On the white collar front, skilled legal immigrants, particularly from India, have severely depressed wages in all technology fields. Companies use Indians damn near like slaves in IT jobs and pay them far below the average salary, but they're happy to take it knowing they'll get their family over here and be legal citizens with full citizenship in 10 years.
Some of this is true but young Americans working in technology have an entitlement mentality. I have 2 developers from Bangladesh that work circles around my American developers. It cost about 30% less to use the foreign labor.
I used to be against hiring foreigners to do development work but have changed my mind since COVID.

It's a shite system, and the working man has no leverage at all. He can simply be replaced by some foreigner. I get how a cynical libertarian type would smirk at this and say some BS that's "just the free market". It's a completely rigged free market, the free market should be shared amongst country men for their own benefit. It is not just their to cater to wealthy corporations.
I can't imagine anything more "free market" than exploiting the economies of developing nations to offer pennies to desperate workers.
The same people that bitch about people asking for a "living wage" are the same people who say absolutely nothing about American manufacturing exploiting authoritarian systems in developing countries for hyper-cheap labor. The same companies that receive American taxpayer bailouts in the trillions.
The most lopsided arrangement in America is the American working class stiff and the American corporate finance.
There's no such thing as a "free market" in the US.

Thats one way to reduce inflation.

This is simple. The US has more regulations for workers and Bangladesh has fewer. That's why they cost less. You're exploiting the Bangladesh system because it's less cumbersome than the US system. On top of that Bangladesh has a worse economy and needs the American system for jobs because of the consumer base and lack of real geopolitical conflict.
There's nothing "free market" about it. The American workers are at a disadvantage from a cost perspective.

J-1 hires for temp purposes are really good too.
Honestly, the bottom 50% of Americans are not going to be good employees.

The 1.9 million aren’t not working because of the foreigners. The foreigners are here because the 1.9 million are lazy.

In the blue collar trades, particularly home construction, which I deal with almost daily, illegals have depressed the wages in almost every facet of work. I can get a crew of mexicans to do roofing, drywall, or framing for half what an American crew will do it for. I don't even know how the mexicans make any money sometimes, but I try not to ever use them because it feels shitty, to me.
I've heard several left leaning economists and US Chamber of Commerce types in front of the cameras and hot mics say the best way to cool inflation is to depress the wages of the working class, particularly the lower skill workers. Yes, the elites want to depress wages....just not their wages.

Yet they use to be! What happened? I know. People like you bought into the "free Market" "Free Trade" hype! And you still promote it today!
They have been conditioned.

They want you to eat less meat while they eat steak.
They want you to drive electric and not fly... while they have motorcades and personal JETS.
Same thing. Same people

The bolded part is simply not true. Given the current US legal-immigration laws, most Indians in USA who are currently applying for green cards, are looking at a 50-60 year long backlog to even get the green card.

There is nothing wrong with either. Free Trade didn't destroy the American spirit. Affluence did.

Yes it did. It removed jobs because politicians wanted security of money funneled to them by corps. They did what the corps wanted. So they opened trade to rouge nations who considered the USA an enemy.
So it removed jobs from here and sent them to those places. All the while those same people convinced you and others that the fault was the American worker!
It's been preached, taught and blasted. Then the same people started putting people on Welfare to push them into a system that does nothing but continue to dumb them down.

The gOPe and the DEMs all worked to make things the way they are.
Free Trade was morphed. Then you were trained to believe it and refuse to look at the facts and the results.
BTW... REAGAN NEVER advocated what we have today. NEVER!

The school system was designed to get people into manufacturing and such. We are facing a major glut of technical skills and truck drivers here soon. It will take us a couple of decades to get out of it.
