I lost my dad during Covid he was 87. I knew by his symptoms his heart was failing. he had had a pacemaker for years. They put him in a swing bed for a few days to monitor him. The last time I spoke to him was through a fricking window standing outside the building because I couldn’t go in to see him.

No changes this morning. Meaning no surgery or stint. They’ll try to get him up and walking around. He’s on the pain meds so he’s a little loopy. I’ll be up there this afternoon to watch the SB with him. His wife is ironically an ICU nurse so it works out well.

On a lighter note, he has Dish and they’re not carrying FOX so he’ll actually get to see the game now

That’s a funny twist of fate. Y’all enjoy the game together. Hope you have an awesome time as awesome as can be under the circumstances.

His heart and lungs are fine. Wasn’t as bad as we thought. He did have a clot around the heart, but not a moving one. His blood pressure is where it’s supposed to be around 90 to 120.

However, he’s in surgery getting a dialysis port put in. The kidneys are the main issue. Hasn’t gone #2 since he’s been here. Peed a few times but the meds he’s been on he hasn’t been used to so he’s upchucked a few times. Doesn’t mean he’ll be on dialysis forever, just now for the acute part of this. Hoping and praying for the best.

Good news!

Are they just planning on doing the chest port, or are they planning on doing a fistula as well?

Chest port. Surgery went well and he’s back in his room. His wife is coming, so I’ll probably head into town and get something to eat so they can visit.

Sounds like they have a good plan for him, Pisco. Just keep hanging in there with him and keep his spirits up. Hope things continue to go well.

After seven days in the ICU (12 days overall) I’m going to pick him up. Blood pressure is good, sugar is good, dialysis has done its job. Still will require him to take his medicine and lose weight. (They requested at least 40 lbs) but he’s coming home. Thanks to everyone for your prayers. He was on a lot of prayer lists across the country.
