Ordinarily I would agree with you, but you seem to be. Forgetting about the NCAA sanctions coming down sometime this year. I don’t have any special insight into what they might be anymore than other people do but from what I can gather they could possibly be pretty bad.

Who knows what type of effect the sanctions will have on LSU basketball but it’s pretty hard for me to imagine that any basketball difference makers are going to be willing to come here until they know what they’re going to be facing.

The fact that MM played juice as much as he did and gave Trae zero minutes is just bonkers to me.

Was he asked about why Hannibal did not play? My assumption was he must have been injured or some such but the beat writers for LSU hoops seem to be as soft as our interior defense/rebounding so maybe the question was never asked?

Missouri didn’t have potential sanctions hanging over them. That makes getting players you want harder.

Except that by all indications before the year started - we did better than Mizzou in "getting players".

Maybe their staff did a better job evaluating? Or developing? Or managing?

Or maybe the ratings of the players each team attained was seriously flawed - by pretty much everyone....and yes that is possible.

Who would have thought Cleveland State transfers are better than Murray State transfers, including the conference POY from a 31-2 team? I sure would not have but it could be the case?

Yep, if you go look at the late April, early May threads you’ll find the same people making excuses were claiming we’d compete for the SEC now that we had a great coach who brought in all this talent. Weird how the narrative has been inverted.

The Administration has exactly who they want at coach. Someone who will never cheat and never stir the pot internally like Dale Brown and Will Wade did. LSU does not want basketball to succeed and never has. The sooner you people realize that the better.

Literally just watch the post game press conference. He said Trae didn’t play due to a coaches decision. He’d rather give minutes to 29%fg Juice Hill. Laughable

Mac is in over his head which is why things like this have been happening all season long.

Our guards suck. I haven't watched a lot of this team, but the games I've seen, there's nobody that can shoot.

All of the above and again all fixable with getting a full cycle of the off season

So what I see you saying is that all of these issues are part of the problem, but if you agree that evaluation, development and roster management are part of the problem, does a full cycle of an off season really help with any of those issues?

Literally yes because it gives the staff more time to do all those things lmao

Our two beta shooters come from our front court. One has been streakier since SEC play started and the others been hurt all year.

Their best player, leading scorer and rebounder, is Kobe Brown. He was a returning player about equivalent to KJ already on their roster.

Their best transfer was a guy from Missouri State.

With that already going for them, they are at best marginally better than LSU. Their SEC wins were against Arkansas, Kentucky, Vandy, Ole Miss, and us.

They have wins vs Iowa st and Illinois as well

Mizzou Kenpom is 54th

Lsu Kenpom is 126th.

Idk if marginally better is the best way to describe them.

yet they are currently tabbed to be a 7-seed in the tournament.

Missouri is playing a lot better than expected, but they won't be a 7-seed in the tourney. If they make it, will be more likely a 10 or 11

Leap of faith to assume time would improve those things but I hope you are correct.

How is it a leap of faith to say having a full offseason would make recruiting, talent evaluations, etc easier? It’s literally common sense
