You've got that right. If the state actually wanted to do something, they would declare a state of emergency, send in the state troopers, suspend home rule for New Orleans, and then set up a special court system designed to prosecute violent crime, not the fiasco known as Orleans Parish criminal court (which is currently not even holding trials).
Jefferson Parish is at least making an effort, like the 55 year carjacking sentence handed down a few months ago.

He is doing exactly what he was elected to do.

One the problems with democracy is you get the government you vote for

Not surprising. It was announced a few weeks ago 70% of violent crime charges were dropped to a misdemeanor or dismissed in the last 2 years.
Absolutely calls for a federal intervention because what the frick

I think being caught in the act of murder is just a $100 fine in NO now.

Jeff Landry has the power as the Attorney General to step in and take over.

Landry has no authority to take action on the criminal activity in New Orleans. That is a function that needs to come from the Governor’s office.
But by all means, let your incorrect assumption as to what he can do shape your vote for governor.
Civics much?

Um, no sweetie. Take a look at our Louisiana Constitution, article IV, section 8:
LINK
"The attorney general shall have authority...to supersede any attorney representing the state in any civil or criminal action."
The DA represents the state of Louisiana in criminal actions. The state Attorney General has legal authority to take over criminal prosecutions.

Fwiw, seems the state has an appeal on this case. They haven't done anything yet on previous cases though.

This. I’m interested to see how the appeal turns out

Reading the tea leaves it seems they may do something. The mamabears account has been a good predictor of what Landry will do.

It's intentional. They work for criminals, not for normals.

Correct. Orleans Parish went 83% for Biden. There could be help at the state level but incredibly this "red" state elected and reelected JBE. That still blows my mind.

Sounds like a plan to get some things fixed too...

And we can't even get that many signatures on the recall petition. Sad.

Meanwhile the Orleans DA personally prosecutes a white on black crime (manslaughter) days before getting indicted on tax evasion and fraud
