Don’t know until you ask.

I guess it’s how I was raised but if a neighbor needs help, I believe you should at least offer. If it turns out she actually doesn’t give a shite, then yeah, do what you have to in order to make the street safe….

It was up on a jack at one point, but they finally got the tire changed after being on that jack for weeks.
If it isn't on a jack anymore, the police would have to verify that it isn't being started or moved every now and then. All they have to do is move it a foot or two every week to avoid a citation. If the registration and plates are ok, you may be out of luck right now.

Am I the only person that actually talks to neighbors if I have a problem with them?

No. I talk to mine. Thankfully my neighbors are all great and keep a clean quiet place. The house that I complained about was abandoned and no one knew where to reach the owners. The Parish went through the legal process to find them and file the proper notices before tearing it down. The house was also not in our subdivision but across the street.

Hey man, I'm mowing my grass this weekend. Getting my house painted next weekend and fixing my car the weekend after that!

This would be a complete bitch move to do if you don't at least to talk to that old lady first and ask about it.

The worst they'd do is give her a warning. Then they'd come back a week later and decide whether to cite or not, depending on compliance.

Secondly, what if I go over there and offer help to move the car, and she says it's ok her nephew is taking care of it, blah blah, but nothing happens, so I end up calling anyway, then she'll know I'm the one who called.

You sound like a giant pussy. Imagine not having the balls to talk to an old lady and instead calling enforcement on her.

At least if you go talk to her, you'll have your answer and will know how to proceed from there.

And yes, you're the a-hole right now. Though that could change if you'd go talk to her.

If it was a next-door neighbor, sure, I'm good with all them. But this house is like 12 doors down. There's no relationship there.

Whatever happened with talking to people. You guys are such babies now days that you can't have a simple conversation.

90% of people nowadays want to fight you for calling them out even in a professional way. Not worth it.

If it's an elderly neighbor, I would offer to help. If it's a moron who should know better, I'd have a conversation and see if it moves in a week. If it is an aggressive moron, I would just call code enforcement.

Who knew asking an old lady about a car in the street was so dangerous?

I'm not talking about police. I'm talking about code enforcement.

These motherfrickers don't play. My local code enforcement page:

quote:

Code Enforcement is a service provided by the County to protect and improve the health, safety, and quality of life of its residents, businesses, and visitors.

The Code Enforcement Division works to eliminate blight, protect property values, lower crime, encourage pride and build a sense of community, and support economic development through education, outreach, and enforcement of the County’s standards for property maintenance, signs, zoning, land use, and business regulations.

Common code violations include junk vehicles, open or outdoor storage (including trash and debris), tall grass and weeds, exterior building and fence/wall maintenance, graffiti, vehicle parking, operating businesses in incorrect zoning districts, and running a business without an occupation tax certificate.

Code Enforcement inspects properties within unincorporated Gwinnett County and does not address code violations within city limits.

Bonus... when they drive through here, this vehicle won't be the only thing of interest to them.

They'll sweep the whole 150+ subdivision and get carpel tunnel syndrome filling out citations.

Probably needs to happen every couple years or so, in my opinion.
