He's asking Trump for permission later today.

He wants to see Trump's campaign in action and assess, I'd imagine.

Apparently he has a lot of supporters pretending like he's running for president.

But DeSantis is acting like he is not, but maybe, then maybe not or something else.

It's hard to say were he stands at the moment.

He knows a fight with Trump will damage him. Even if he survives it the damage might be to much to overcome in the general.

It won't happen before the end of the legislative session, which is sometime in May. If he decides to run, I think he wants one more good legislative session behind him.

Do you see DeSantis possibly being Trump's VP?

No.

It's currently unconstitutional unless one of them moves and establishes residence in another state real quick.

I think Trump would have to promise a Dick Cheney type VP role with a lot of power and autonomy.

No chance he would be on a ticket with no chance at winning.

It's certainly possible. Perhaps he's already in and thinks Trump is driving folks to Ron with him sitting idle and he'll let that ride a bit. Perhaps he's leaning towards not running provided Trump's campaign appears strong and he's gauging it. I think both are reasonable guesses.

I could easily see Trump doing that if needed. It would depend on the other states taxes I would think.

Democrats want these 2 at each other's throats well into 2024.

It will damage both and reduce the likelihood of either winning the general.

Desantis is 43. He should endorse Trump and then whether Trump wins or loses he is well positioned to make a run in his late 40s. Still a very young President.

Its just too risky to run unless someone has told him Trump will be dead or in jail.

Yeah, he could move to Bedminster, NJ pretty easy. But he's have to do it very soon if he were considering DeSantis for VP.

I don't believe DeSantis runs.

Both running on the same ticket would probably be the best outcome even though highly unlikely.

it would unite the R base and they would be heavy favorites against whoever the dems run.

Maybe he could find some old Jerry Springer episodes on Netflix then.

He would be an idiot to announce anytime soon, or any time before late this year.
