Why are there so many more Indians in tech than Chinese?

Both cultures emphasize STEM education yet you barely see Chinese folks in American tech companies.

they're too busy messing around with your Coke.

Theres not. You just see more Indians or hear more Indians due to the CCP and their quasi closed society.

I'm not in STEM but my first thought was that China may have a more robust high end tech field and more political pressure to keep them at home.

Not a popular answer, but Indians are just inherently smarter in certain fields. They are amazing doctors too.

I think Indians may be more likely to get jobs in America in tech and medicine because they learn English in school. So they already are already fluent before they get to america.

There is a common misconception that Chinese people are super intelligent.
They are one of the dumbest races on the planet.

That very well may be the case.

Indians speak English at a much higher rate.

Bingo. There are probably more chinese than anyone else in tech, their society is just fairly well cloaked.

Yeah, it's because they speak English.
The Chinese people I've worked with in IT and software development have mostly worked with databases. You don't need William F. Buckley-level English skills to run a database.

I always laugh when people say this, you are seeing the .01% of a population of over a billion that make it here and assume they are all brilliant neurosurgeons.

It's more like, the ones who happen to be kick-arse surgeons get out as quickly as they can.

More compatible with Western culture due to history of the British Empire too.
Posted on 1/29/23 at 1:17 pm to yaboidarrell
There are billions of both and they don’t send the dumbest over here.

They are really good at copying things. Not worth a damn at inventing things.
And they are a pain in the fricking arse to deal with.

Incorrect, the Indians you see here in America represent the top .001% of India.
