We recently moved to Jefferson Terrace (July) neighborhood all the way in the back. Our backyard is fenced and behind our fence is the siegen lane businesses near Industriplex Ext. There were lots of trees and the homeless lived in the woods. It wasn’t that bad as they were far enough away. Someone is building townhomes so they knocked the trees down. The homeless population moved to the other side of our house nearest our master bedroom and their tent set up is less than 50 feet from where we lay our head.
We can hear them in normal conversations. When they fight we hear them as well. At midnight one night they had a leaf blower going.

I called the cops earlier this week and they said they would roll a car. I’m pretty sure the car never showed up because they are still there.

Does anyone have any advice? I do know it is private land and know who owns it. Should I call them and let them know ?

Update 01/30
Our council woman has said HOT team will be coming to the area to talk to the population that it will be decommissioned and they have x number of days to get out. Hopefully, will have confirmation soon of when that has happened.

Update: Apparently WBRZ saw this thread on TD and wanted to run a story.

Update: 2/2

Update: 2/7 - Big blue is gone. Other tent is still there. Hoping more progress later this week. Not sure what that contraption is in the middle right of the picture.

Update 2/19 -area is cleaner and all tents have Beene removed. HOT teams have surely been doing some work.

Update 3/11:
Cleanup efforts almost done.

This is what I would do. The owner probably doesn't want a bunch of homeless drug addicts setting up a colony on his land.

Sounds like they are squatting. They may have more rights than you do now.

You're going to need a bucket, a shovel, long sleeve shirt, thick gloves, and no less than four moderately-sized fire ant beds.

Honestly curious if the homeless were an issue you knew when you bought? Seems even before that is too close, but now just untenable.

I dislike people who treat the homeless as victims (most of the time it is self-inflicted) and who won't allow homeless camp cleanouts.

The camps are an environmental disaster. They throw trash everywhere and they shite and piss everywhere. There was a camp under the old Common Street bridge in Shreveport - the refuse was four-five feet deep.

The Rescue Mission (a vagrant magnet) moved to downtown Shreveport. The mission would give the bums food "to go", and of course, the bums threw all the trash everywhere. Who the frick is stupid enough to give bums "to go" food in containers knowing the trash will end up as litter? I think the mission stopped the "to go."

I always thought it would have been funny to bag up the bum trash in that area and dump the trash in the yard of every member of the board.

The people who love the homeless most often live where the bums aren't.

Think of them as urban outdoor enthusiasts.

Nightmare scenario. You could blast classical music at them like they’re doing in SF, or some other type of unsettling sounds. Your neighbors might get mad but they’re probably more concerned about the homeless

Howdy neighbor! I’d be more worried about how close you live to the apartment complex back there. Not one of the best.

If you know the owner, definitely get them to call the cops. I know there is one part of that property that is owned by someone in Texas and they don’t care about it, so the cops have told the residents they can’t make the homeless people leave if they that part of the woods.
