What I’m most excited about is the reports coming out saying how close the clubhouse is and how hard these players work after hours. We have all the talent in the world but if you attach the work these guys are putting in on top of the mindset, this squads in for a feel tourney run.
I think leadership in the clubhouse has been lacking for several years at LSU. Crews is a leader by example, but not verbal. Dugas has leadership qualities. But, I think we've otherwise been missing a guy or guys that really put the team's mindset over the edge. Skenes is that guy. He's got fire. I think White can also be a fiery player.
And, yes, I think we had bench guys like Beloso and Bianco that led but it's far different when you have a Skenes and White leading from the front. I also think you'll see guys like Money and Jobert step into leadership roles. It'll be a much better look to have a handful or more guys not taking any bullshite.

We are fortunate to have Coach Jay Johnson setting the tone for the season of going about things the right way to represent LSU, in stark contrast to how a similarly touted team in Tennessee last season went about their business under Vitello.

A couple bombs from true freshmen today - Jones and Frey

Can someone update us on the scrimmage today

Ignore the troll. That dude and a couple of other posters shat on Jay all last season and will likely do the same this year. They only post after losses.

HRs from Joubert, Jones, Frey and Crews. Crews’ was off LF scoreboard; Jones’ was an absolute laser.
Hurd struggled with command a bit but was dominant at times.
Hitters are dominant now that we’re deeper into the pitching staff.

I left after 4 or so innings. Can give some basic cliff notes I suppose. Jobert hit a bomb to right with a stiff right to left breeze. Crews check swinged into a fielders choice and struck out. Hurd has pretty impressive stuff with some real giddy up. Was sitting around 95-96 I think. Tough outing for Money. Tre made a nice diving stop at 1st. Moffett can bring it but looks to be a bit out of control. As I mentioned, Frey and Jones both hit bombs. Frey’s was a moon shot and Jones on a line, both to left. Hard to take much away from a few inning of a scrimmage but I’m excited.

Frey and Jones are both big dudes.

I think Hurd will peak closer to opening day or even conference play. He's still working his way back from a crappy back injury, and I prefer that they take it slow - his health is the most important thing to him being a very valuable piece this year.

Massive. And really filled out for freshmen. Excited about those two

Don’t remember them all. Joubert was off of Hurd, Crews may have been as well.

Hurd was out before I left, so Crews’ homer wasn’t off of him.

LSU Baseball Data has Hurd at
3 IP 3 H 1 ER 5K
And apparently the hitters feasted today.

Not a bad line, comparable to Floyd yesterday without the free passes.
