Avoyelles Parish has been four days for the last several years. I am not saying it is because of this, but school scores have improved dramatically and the overall district score went from a D to a B this past year. Teacher and student absenteeism is down, and you do get some financial savings when it comes to the cost of busing, food, and utilities. Avoyelles also has Mondays off and the reasoning behind that was because the calendar already had several Mondays off (Labor Day, MLK, etc.) it allows to not have to take off for those days. Also many doctors offices and the like work a half day on Fridays so having the Monday off would allow parents to have more options when making those types of appointments. Some parents were against it at first but now the overwhelming majority of the parents support it.

The goal is not to reduce instructional time," Richard said. "Obviously, no one wants to cut instructional time. The goal would be to compress a normal, five-day work week or instructional day into four, extended days."

LNCHBOX says no way. You're ruining childrens lives and can't count.

You're like the third person to make that claim with not a single post to back it up.

Teacher salaries adjusted accordingly?

On the previous page you just equated this scenario to when kids didn't go to school during covid and got dumber
So apparently you saying kids will get dumber with 4 day weeks and not being in front of the teacher that extra day.
I guess you feel home schooled kids are some dumb mother frickers

Teachers aren't getting the day off. They're still coming in to work on the 5th day.
Not all of them have to come in every off day - they rotate and its only for a few hours

They'll likely adjust the schedule where they still get the same number of instructional days/minutes. States have a minimum number of days/minutes they have to attend. So your kid isn't missing any instruction. It's simply structured differently.
This is correct and the reason why they will go to school 5 days a week for the first 6 weeks

The won't save shot they will just spend it elsewhere
Unfortunately this is true.
Schools have become bloated with useless shite, kids are not doing better...they're doing worse and the system still screams for more money.
It needs to be stripped down, not expanded.
You could close schools, send kids to school 2.5 days, alternate schools...etc.

Wut? A great many professions can't just stop working. Would you expect employee compensation to remain the same while the businesses lose a day of revenue?
33.5 hrs/ week is now considered full time.
My employees work 4.5 days / week.
Standard Child support calculations for minimum child support were reduced to that a few years ago too ($1005 / mo)
Only places I see professional jobs hitting 40 hrs anymore are banks and financial sector.
Medical sector does their own thing, too.
I see attorneys offices open on Saturdays now as well.
But as for the 4-day school week that town literally does not work more than 4 days per week.

But the big stink is that the schools and the parents wanted the day off on Friday which has been how it was for those who had 4 day weeks but the school board voted the day off on Monday
In a 4 day environment in schools, Friday’s off in my mind works better for high schools when you consider athletics.
For elementary schools, a 4 day week schedule helps no one except the lazy teachers that want the extra day off.

My work week is 37 hours, but I don't know anyone working 40 right now but the legislative staff.
Currently public schools function more as day care center than they do as educational centers.
