There has to be more to the story on this basketball team

This is not the same team that was 12-1. i know the competition got better but this team can't beat anyone right now.

The same team that played bunch of quad 3 and 4 teams? No, it’s the same team

Schedule was brutal in January. They play similar opponents the second half of the year. The battle for 7th place will be fierce.

They were the better team for a large part of the K-state game.
If we played them this weekend they would beat us by 20+, that is kinda crazy to think about.

They probably got bored with McMahon's boring arse personality

As the better coaches have seen what he does they’ve adjusted and completely stopped his offense. What he runs is very simple and there’s no creativity or ability to adjust when it isn’t working. His personnel decisions and player combinations have been bad all year and all of this culminates to the product we’re seeing now.

Whatever was going on behind the scenes with Juice Hill/coaches/locker room chemistry may have played a role in this train wreck of a decline.
The last game we played well in was against Kentucky. That was the last game before Hill lost his starting spot (deservedly so) to Hannibal. I noticed some spats between Hill and assistant coaches from time to time on the bench as well after he lost PT. There may be something to this that affected the team as a whole.

Woodward fired the general and hired Sgt. Schultz.

He doesn’t seem to understand personnel and matchups at this level. No problem with him starting Hill to begin the season because it was his guy and he was a decent player for him but midway through non conf it was obvious Hayes was our best point guard. Now instead of playing Hayes there he’s moved Juice Williams to the point who’s probably worse than Hill. You also see him use lineups with 3-4 non shooters together so there’s no space on the floor. He plays too small killing us on the boards and leaving us nobody to matchup with the bigger 3s in the SEC. It’s a cascading failure on every front.

There is, about a month after last season ended we had no players, we had to get players

They lost the one dude who could at least keep the turnovers to a minimum. They’ve turned it over like 35 times in the last two games.
They’ve got no shooters. Miller was like the 4th leading scorer on Illinois and some people here thought he was the messiah.
The roster just isn’t that good. But it’s the best he could do when starting from 0.
I don’t put this entirely on McMahon because the players just aren’t very good

They aren’t good. We basically have Murray St’s team and a few transfers.
Not nearly enough talent and now they don’t believe in themselves.
It’s gonna take two more years unless we pony up big in the portal.

quote:This. The team spent a lot of energy starting with Arkansas a few days after Christmas and at Kentucky. Then the team played at A&M who crashed the offensive boards like no team before and really shook their confidence. We all knew the 1st 8 games would be rough, but some of the weaker teams in that group were tougher than we thought.
Schedule was brutal in January.
Some of these players, even the ones who came from another team, have never really faced adversity and have always played for relatively stacked teams. I am sure the losses were tough for them.
