Why are WR’s the Biggest Divas?

Tantrums if they don’t get the ball (which is really why Diggs went off). I get the whole competitive thing, but they seem to show up teammates more than others.

I think it’s the nature of the position. Your output is tied to someone else directly moreso than anyone else, which leads to tantrums

Which is tied to better contracts as well as bonuses, and aside from money, it’s tied to reputation and ranking compared to other receivers

I imagine it’s frustrating running up and down the field all game and not getting the ball when you’re actually open

if wrs want the ball all the time then why didn't they play qb?

You never see this in WRs before 2000. It's not the position or output being tied to someone else's. It's the change in the NFL culture. If it's acceptable and cool to cry about it, then it will be a trend. Just like WRs never used to ask for a flag and now it's ever other play.

Money wasn't nearly as much as it is now.
Difference between out of the league and generational wealth is completely dependent on the QB.
Pretty easy to understand why this position is the one that acts like this.

bullshite. Complete revisionist history.

Because they don’t get hit constantly like every other position.

Andre Rison
Keyshawn Johnson
Michael Irvin
Randy Moss
Terrell Owens
Chris Carter
The more the football has become predicated on the passing game, the more divas you will naturally see at the receiving position. Same with DBs, the guys guarding those receivers.

You can say the same about TEs and they tend to be some of the most humble guys on the field.

They get hit, a lot. And have to block linebackers too

Michael Irvin was a diva at Miami back in the 80s

Talent + production being reliant on someone else = frustration.

The same reason elite sprinters and NBA shooting guards are divas

They did in the Les Miles Offense

Diggs is really just mad because Allen and Beasley are conspiring to hold him down. I didn’t notice him being nearly as demonstrative before Beasley came along and started stealing his targets.

DBs can't head hunt them like in the old days.
Same as with taking fighting out of hockey.
No fear leads to bad behavior.
No penalty for this in the 70's.

They were arguably worse than they are now!
