The parents are full of crap.
Here's what likely happened.
One of the teenage siblings got the gun down from the top shelf of the closet and was playing around with in front of the 6-year-old and left the gun in easily accessible location where the 6-year-old grabbed it and stowed it in his backpack.
Parent(s) should be charged with reckless aggravated assault.

You don't need to pull the trigger to shoot people. Alec Baldwin explained that.

Okay let review what is missing. All reports in the beginning were about "the mother" meaning there is no father in the house.

Next, it is the mothers, what is the number one reason a woman purchases a gun. Im not talking suburban moms who think its cool, Im talking about a single mom living in Newport News. Because she is scared, and who are they most likely scared of? Domestic violence.

So its safe to say this kid has seen it firsthand, the violence against women who disrespect. He knows where the gun is, and no its not safety locked in a closet, which would do little good when baby's daddy burst in for the next beating.

So the kid thinks violence is the way to deal with an unruly woman and being six he cant exactly slap the teacher around so he takes the gun to show her not to disrespect him.

I hope that the teacher’s health is on the mend and that the scars on her body completely heal .
Her mind will take longer to heal. It will be something that will never heal completely.
I pray that the school system is prepared to award her a 40 years of service pension and pay all of her medical bills in addition to mental counseling.

Now to junior . How in the Hell did he get it in his mind that it was ok to shoot his teacher?
Where ever he goes in that community he will be known as the person who shot his teacher.
What if she died from his gunshot ?
This is tragic for all .

The kid had severe mental issues that were well known long ago. There was an agreement in place that a parent MUST be with the child at school and that agreement was honored up until the week of the shooting.

There’s going to be a massive lawsuit against the school and administrators. Staff warned administrators multiple times the day of the shooting they the kid was fighting other kids, telling kids he had a gun, and was going to start shooting people. Admins never fully searched the kid. There were three separate warnings to school admins that day.

One staff member asked admins for permission to search the kid but was denied because….and I quote….”don’t bother because the school day is almost over”. He shot the teacher an hour later.

School board is holding a vote this afternoon to vote on firing the schools superintendent.

Ah the blissful life of a suburbanite where all life's problems cam be solved with lawyers

Pray tell for the board's sake, how does a six year old "have a long history of mental illness" did you miss the part about six years old.

Yeah. No worries. I'm sure all of the bad people will stay on their side of the tracks.

They almost unversally do LOL. This is the thing most sane people will never understand about those among us who suffer from irrational fears to the point that they feel they must be armed at all times in order to survive....they are truly crippled by unfounded fears and think something bad is going to happen to them if they are not armed when the data suggests almost nothing bad ever happens to anyone which would not have happened had they been armed because almost nothing bad happens to people in the US. 2.3% of the US population will be the victim of a violent crime in any given year (number is far lower today than it was 30 years ago, by the way). When you take the number of people in that 2.3% who are in the process of committing a crime themselves when they become victims the number drops to less than 1%. It simply is not a risk for most Americans and if you are middle class and white there is practically no risk at all unless you are a criminal yourself. But don't try to convince someone who is saddled with irrational fears...they just know someone is going to get them any minute. Bless their hearts....

They should be charged with accessory to murder and if convicted sentenced to the maximum penalty allowed by law. The same goes for anyone who uses a gun in a violent crime or makes it possible for someone else to do the same. You can bet if some folks who think they have done all they can to make their gun safe go to jail when they fail miserably others will take the necessary precautions to keep them as safe as possible.

I have a house full of guns and they are all locked in a safe. There is nary a round of anykind anywhere near those firearms. The ammo is in another safe in the garage while the guns are in a safe in my closet. None are EVER loaded unless they are going to be fired soon, never in the house and never in the truck or boat. I am 57 years old, white, live in a middle class white neighborhood and have never been victimized by crime of any sort let alone violent crime because I am not a criminal myself and I do not live in poverty stricken areas where crime is common. Having a loaded firearm stored in a house like that is just asking for issue because there is zero chance anyone is coming through the door of my house uninvited or getting in my truck on the road. The odds are astronomical and do not change significantly with a loaded weapon around when weighted with the accidents associated with the latter. It just ain't necessary for the vast, vast majority of Americans and even for those who it is necessary for most would prove to be very inefficient in using that gun when needed....it is a fantasy world.

Exactly. The boogie man shows up in your bedroom at 2 in the morning, he is not waiting to get your gun out of the safe or the damn lock off. People that do that just need the stand a baseball bat besides their bed and pray.

We also know that the family 'claims' that the kid has some kind of major disability that requires a parent to accompany him in school EVERY DAY. However, the week when the shooting happened was the first time a parent was not with him.

What exactly kind of major disability are they claiming?!?! He is obviously not disabled enough not to hold a gun, point and shoot it.

here's his reply when he got called out on it.

White folks all over my timeline saying that the six-year-old boy in Virginia who shot his teacher was black, but they’ll go to their graves denying that a boy, born in Bethlehem, raised in Nazareth, named Jesus, was Black.
