Fred’s has had the business model of wanting to be the “upperclassmen bar” for well over 30 years. Even when the drinking age was 18, they enforced a 20+ entrance requirement (someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure it was 20 and not 21 back in the day).
It was like this as far back as the early to mid 90's. However, I seem to recall that they might have allowed girls in younger than guys. I know I couldn't get in there until I was 20 (minus a fake ID of course), but I remember girls my age were able to enter when I couldn't.

must be nice to be omniscient. How do you divine these insights you seem so sure of?
Considering she was blacked out drunk and since rape is the most under reported crime...throw in the sodomy...it's safe to say we never hear about.

It was like that in the late 80s too.

And because this seems so common, here comes the downvotes. Most of you on here are men. Do you realize how common rape is? Please protect your wives & daughters. Tell them to drink with friends, have a plan & don't leave with strange men.
They don't realize how common this is. I think it would be the rare woman in adulthood who either hasn't experienced this or doesn't know someone (probably multiple someones) who have. I have never been raped. I know multiple people who have. I do think the men really don't understand how many bad guys are out there waiting for a young woman's weak moment. Just because you are a nice guy doesn't mean your friend is. You really don't know. I don't know a single woman who reported their rape. That doesn't mean they didn't happen and they weren't raped.

19 for girls, 20 for guys at Fred's in the early 2000s

His experience has nothing to do with this story. What happened to him was horrible but he tends to make everything about himself in threads.
He isn't the authority on rape. It doesn't take first hand experience to know what happened here was awful and should never happen.
And to plug his book in a thread where a girl was raped and killed is bad form.

the DA hasn't charged anyone, yet. The case will go through a screening process at the DA's office once the report(s) and evidence are presented to the DA by the police.

so we are going to live in a world where you drop someone off in a neighborhood, and they walk over to a 4 lane highway and get hit and it's somehow the responsibility of the driver that dropped that person off if they are killed?
Did you rape said victim prior to the incident?

Remember, DAs take an oath and are licensed by the State Bar. They MUST follow the law on the books or be impeached, removed from office, or disbarred.
They're there for the VICTIMS.
Not anymore. Progressive DAs are more concerned with the rights of criminals than seeking justice for their victims.

She was employed by Reggie's. They knew exactly how old she is, and who she is.
This absolutely makes it worse about the lack of response from her ‘friends.’. If she worked there, then she knew the staff. Someone from the staff should have taken control of this situation well before it ever got to this point.
This is absolutely disgusting on so many levels.

As such, our action plan starts with a deep and relentless focus on any establishment that profits off our students by providing alcohol to underage individuals.

How does that make any sense? Just because those 4 guys committed a terrible crime does not mean she was not irresponsibly drinking under the legal age. How is no one here willing to acknowledge that? If I run a stop sign then get hit by a drunk driver, did I not still run the stop sign? Just because someone did something far worse to me does not mean I did not make my own mistake. It's not her fault she was taken advantage of in a drunken state, but why is it so hard for people to accept it may be on her for getting to that drunken state?

Are you sure this didn't happen after the Ben Wynne thing circa '98 when all the bars had a CNN and national spotlight on them? I have very little memory from the '93/'94 era but could have sworn we would just walk over to Fred's from getting shitfaced next door all the time as an 18-yr old.
Eta: Or maybe it was because I had classes with a bouncer nicknamed "Tiny" (think he was Acacia) and he let us in. The entire 90's is a freaking blur.

Reggie’s alcohol license suspended amid investigation, officials say
The following statement was released:
The Louisiana ATC is working with Baton Rouge ABC and local law enforcement to investigate and share evidence regarding recent incidents at this establishment. Due to the seriousness of the allegations and the potential threat to public safety, an emergency suspension will be issued today. This action immediately suspends the service or sale of alcoholic beverages at this location. An emergency hearing will be held next month to determine what penalties (if any) should be imposed following a presentation of the evidence.

I obviously came at it from the wrong angle. But as others have pointed out women are a little more upset by this subject because the vast majority of females have either been a victim or know someone who has.(oftentimes both or multiples)
And it just sucks that this is the world we live in.

Since 2000, Fred's was 20 to get in for a guy, which I always thought was a weird number, and 19 for a girl.

If she doesn’t speak about it, maybe. But I think being it happened at LSU it would be covered. And there’s no way anyone of us can say with certainty one way or the other.
Except Flo. He levitates above the rest of us on his high horse. Surprised he doesn’t strain his neck looking down on everyone.
