Laid Off Google Employees Learn the Hard Way that Woke Corporations Don't Actually Care

Google spends a lot of time selling itself as a company that cares. It’s at the forefront of every woke movement, making it seem like a company that truly makes the effort to be one of the people. Of course, we’ve seen this kind of thing before…from literally every corporation.
quote:
Google is no different, but despite Google being a company that deals in a very modern and cutting-edge product, it’s still like every other company in that its primary concern isn’t you, it’s your wallet. At the end of the day, a corporation is a corporation.
This is what recently laid-off Google employees were blown away by after the company slashed 12,000 jobs. People who had been with the company for well over a decade suddenly realized that Google wasn’t the personable company they’d believed it was.
quote:
According to the New York Post, employees suddenly found themselves jobless through an “automated account deactivation at 3 am.”
“It’s hard for me to believe that after 20 years at #Google I unexpectedly find out about my last day via an email,” wrote one Twitter user. “What a slap in the face. I wish I could have said goodbye to everyone face to face.”
quote:
Another said they found out when their phone gave them a termination of service notification and a complete lockout of access to her corporate accounts, only to receive an email a little bit later.
“Today, my 15+ year adventure at Google came to an unexpected end when bleary eyed and still half asleep I checked my phone and saw a notification that my corporate access expired alongside a NYT notification announcing the layoffs,” wrote senior marketing manager Elizabeth Hart on Linkedin.
quote:
Google is “woke” because it feels like that’s what gets it the most money, but it isn’t a “woke” company at its core, it’s just the dress it’s wearing to this party. It’s also not your friendly neighborhood internet company. It’s a corporation that plays on your emotions so you’ll give it money.
Hopefully, this is a wake-up call for many people.

Imagine getting fired and then taking to social media to announce it publicly. WTF is wrong with people is more of what I got from this article.

All that they know is that everything is supposed to be about them. This is the way. "Look at me!" no matter what it is.

I'm confused. Why isn't this story getting the same coverage as the Twitter lay-offs?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah.

Whether at the corporate or personal level, being able to be “woke” is a privilege and luxury. It means you don’t have actual problems, so you need to fabricate some to give yourself a cause.
HOWEVER, when the chips are down, money talks and bullshite walks.
All of those koombaya and feel-good platitudes mean nothing to shareholder profits because that is the only thing that matters to a corporation. That’s it. That’s all. That’s the list.

In the end, a job has to add value and is only worth so much if a company is being run correctly...
Many of these people think they "deserve" a job... Time they learn a little reality...

It's a dick move how Google handled the firing.

That's kind of the point.
They're made out by many to be a beacon of progressivism while they act like any other big faceless corporation.

The fired Google employees can’t just identify as employed?

Sounds like they need a union. Job protection and shite like that.

Sucks to be them. These are the same kinds of assholes who told everyone else getting laid off “learn to code!”

Because Google executives hold the acceptable opinions.

I have been laid off and I disagree.
Would have preferred an email vs the humiliation of having a rent-a-cop escort me out of the building personally. Way better than having to hear the disingenuous kunt from HR tell me how sorry she is while she sleeps fine tonight knowing where her next paycheck comes from.

Just wait til they find out that other companies aren't likely to have free cafeterias, "break-out rooms", yoga therapy, etc.
