A few golf claps at halftime from a few loyalists. He Probably enjoyed a cigar on the porch with JA reminiscing about WW firing and the good ol days when he did things with integrity; honor and class. Oh, and righteousness… always righteousness for Dale.

With lsu bb in the dumps, Dale can say how great he was as a coach. Dale could not stand lsu to have a real coach and winner. It's a shame that Dale has such a fragile ego. Well, at least we have a court named after someone who never even made it to a national championship game.

Dale's teams were probably paying out more “NIL money“ than the current LSU team pays out.

I have such mixed thoughts about Daddy Dale. LSU basketball was fun for a decade. It's when I was young and impressionable and was a time when LSU basketball was the best game in town.

That imprint on LSU Basketball - and me - is now tarnished by his ego as he aged.

I'm still happy he called the NCAA Gestapo Bastards.

I’d listen to his radio show. Towards the end of his career, people would ask why lsu lost a game, but Dale would instead go on a rant about starving children in 3rd world countries or his visit with Mother Teresa.
I just couldn’t listen to that stuff anymore.

Ironic he rolled himself out there vs Tennessee …… the opponent he was playing when he completely embarrassed himself and LSU “protecting” Shaq. That date cemented my negative feelings on Dale and began his very quick fall from whatever mountain he thought he was on. His last years were an embarrassment.

LSU has 11 total SEC championships, Dale has 5 of those. They have 1 SEC tournament championship, Dale in 1980.
23 NCAA appearances, 13 by Dale
10 Sweet 16, 5 by Dale
6 Elite 8, 4 by Dale
4 Final Four, 2 by Dale

And you WW fans still want to shite on him every chance you get.

I mean look at this thread… you are mostly grown men calling another man “Daddy”.

How is he not supposed to have an ego with that

Dale Brown is very unlikeable. Take his name off the court.

Until then, Les Miles field.

The excitement around LSU basketball in the 1980s has yet to be duplicated. It was absolutely electric in the PMAC. If it was like that today, no one would be complaining about the PMAC - they would think it was an awesome basketball arena.

These threads pop up every once in a while and I always get a decent laugh. When Wade was hired, Brown loved the hire. There is a video of him online saying he thought Wade had it all and was an A+ hire. It wasn't until after Wade refused to talk to LSU officials (which Wade later admitted was bad advice from his first attorney that he fired) when I think things got a little strained in regards to Wade.

Whether you like Dale or not, he managed to bring LSU basketball to a level of consistency and excitement that we have been chasing ever since. I really liked what Wade did while he was here. For those saying Wade would have surpassed Dale's accomplishments as far as winning/tourney runs, it's possible he could have. However, he didn't last long at all. Managing to stick around a long time in college sports at one place is an accomplishment in itself. Like him or not, Brown's accomplishments and what he built at LSU were impressive and weren't easy to achieve.

If you’re letting a 90 year old man trigger you maybe you should rethink your life choices.

Deal Brown deftly hit his weaknesses. But he came in as a new name coach and made LSU basketball a national brand.

Deal Brown definitely had his weaknesses. But he came in as an unknown coach and made LSU basketball a national brand. He took over a post Maravich program that was terrible even with Pete. Under Dale Brown the program achieved success not seen before or since. Let me know the next time lsu basketball leads the nation in consecutive NCAA appearances.

Why do we shite on our own? Coach Brown coached at LSU for 25 years! Whatever he did to you, let it go.

Dale Brown was good for LSU basketball but he lost focus and his ego, well you know!

he could never win the big games and was not a great coach even though he had quality athletes.

many assistant coaches were a big help to the team.

glad when he got cut.

That old coach thinks so highly of himself. I’ve never seen someone have that big of an ego and do so little. If you can’t do anything for Dale then he doesn’t give a shite about you. His recruiting violations set us back many years and really is the reason we’ve had issues for so long.

The only person I despise on the same level is Collis temple. Those two combined have screwed over LSU Athletics and most notably the basketball program for decades.

I would love to see the Gunter - Brown court as opposed to what it is now. Maybe they can name it after Mulkey after she wins three titles and retires and Dale is long gone.
