re: So I guess we’re not mad at Nuss for skipping the bowl last year?

So wouldn't it be a good idea to have a couple of more weeks of practice and a game to sharpen that first round talent?
Are you seriously arguing skipping a meaningless exhibition played in Jan of 2022 hurts his development and potential draft position in the 2025 draft
Btw why couldn’t he practice? He just couldn’t play

If Nuss becomes the second coming of JB9 he will leave sooner.

What a stupid analogy. So no one but a coach can watch a game and understand what is happening? One may disagree with BK about JD, but because he is not the coach he must of needs be incorrect? Absolute nonsense, friend. BK should know much more than the average fan, but that does not mean a given fan can see something better than even the HC on occasion. Many saw that CLMs offenses were the main reason behind his downfall. Coaches egos like many persons in high places often interfere with their judgement. Maybe BK is not affected by such things. We are going to find out in the next couple of years.
BTW that video with WH was absurd.

If Nuss starts the bowl game and balls out, then CBK likely doesn’t bring in JD and Nuss would’ve been the starter this past season. We would be heading into 2023 with Nuss already having an entire season of experience under his belt with Walker Howard as his backup

I guarantee you you don’t understand what you are watching the way coaches do, you also have no idea what’s happening in practice, from study etc.

You’re a broken clock you that just doesn’t realize it. At best you just prefer a different style of QB but you do not see 1 is better and Kelly does not.

That’s not the same thing as which QB should start. If you think it was as simple Miles just not starting the right QB it shows how little you understand. Mikes downfall was the overall program was slipping, not just the offense. Kirby Smart is running basically the same type of offense and just won back to back. It works with studs at every other position like LSU 2011 but by 2013 the talent every where had slipped.

Highly doubtful. For one, Kelly’s plan along was to get an experienced guy for year 1. It was important to get the ship pointed in the right direction. And let’s be honest, what were the odds he would “ball out” in that game? It would have been his first career start with the majority of the staff that in place prepping for the game GA’s and analysts. That’s not recipe for success. This game isn’t that easy.

How so? Because you do understand what you are watching? OK.

I prefer a QB who plays the position like he understands what is happening. I guess you just do not get this. You think Daniels is a good QB. Good for you. I do not think he can win a championship without a completely elite "supporting cast". He is easily confused which leads him to run when it is not the best thing to do. 43 sacks last year.

The point here, friend, is that coaches can be mistaken, sometimes severely so. I am convinced that Miles thought that a good QB was not at all important. I also think that he has borderline intelligence. Kelly is completely different in that regard, but I think he may be a bit of an egotist which could affect his judgment. We may learn that keeping Polian in charge of ST is a mistake. Same possibly with bringing Daniels back. To me that is big part of the enjoyment of following the game.
Have a nice day.

If Nuss had started that bowl game, he wins over the team and is the number 1 QB going into Spring. Daniels probably never comes to LSU and Nuss starts the entire season with Howard as backup. We keep him and Howard in that scenario.

Maybe, but not longer than 2023

Since we are taking about hypotheticals, without Jayden we probably don’t win 10 games and win the west. Winning the west changed the perception of the program which has greatly helped in recruiting.

I love how fans think the players think like you “win over the team” what a stupid narrative fans have created that the team is upset because he skipped an exhibition game

No i don't, that's the point. The coaches have more information than you, the have coaches film, they work with the players in practice, you think because you can observe some players are better than others when its obvious, like Burrow vs say Brandon Harris, that you can always tell the difference when you can't. Most of you thinking you understand is 20/20 hindsight (which you admit at the end. You also treat the perfect as the enemy of the good.

I get it, you are an arrogant moron. The fact you think Daniels doesn't understand whats happening shows how little you know. In no other profession do rank amateurs think they know more than the people doing it

He is unquestionably a good QB, this is what i mean by treating the perfect as the enemy of the good.

that applies to everyone or at least 99.9%, who recently won without an elite supporting cast? Newton i guess and he's an absolute freak.
quote:

of course they can make mistakes, they are human. The problem is you think you know more than when what you are really using is 20/20 hindsight. Its easy to say who should start when you are watching on TV, its not so easy when its your job on the line and you've been watching them practice all spring and summer.
quote:
I am convinced that Miles thought that a good QB was not at all important.
Well Saban won titles with Greg McElroy and Jake Coker. He won the SEC and got to the playoff with Blake who they had converted to WR. Smart just won B2B with a walkon who he ran off once and wasn't starting until the starter got hurt. Miles biggest problem was he wasn't as good as Saban and the program started slipping not just bad QBs.
quote:

and here is where you admit you are using 20/20 hindsight. The ST last year was awful, there's no denying that, but Polian also has recruiting responsibilities and that has been outstanding. He's coaches ST before and wasn't bad. Where i differ from people is i don't think its that big of a deal. As the roster gets better, we don't have the depth yet, things like return coverage will be better just by having better athletes.

With a QB that is capable of passing the ball down the field, we might beat FSU and A&M. JD sure didn’t win us the Auburn or Arky games, we won quite a few games in spite of JD, not because of him

With all the other bs they allow now in the game I don’t see why a bowl game should burn a red shirt if they need to play. It would be very rare but if it was like last year and Nus were to play, he shouldn’t loose a red shirt for bowl game play. Miles did it with Russell Sheppard though.
Posted on 1/12/23 at 10:29 pm to H-Town Tiger
So you don’t think the players respecting the quarterback is important on a team? You are a fricking moron.

Sitting that game out was a terrible look for him that he’ll never recover from.

quote:Maybe he hits the portal this season, but if not, then his situation would be very similar to Burrow’s, and he stuck it out for a fifth year. And he was an NFL quality guy.
Do any of you baws sincerely believe that Nuss would hang around LSU for 5 years?
If he's good, he'll bolt for the NFL before then and if he isn't and gets beat out by someone coming in, he'll high tail it through the portal. No way that guy sticks around for 5 years.

quote:your sentiment is correct if you do not assume that Nuss only lacks experience, especially reading defenses, to progress to a starting role.
He still have three to play three. That’s a lot bigger after the Howard news
The old adage is still true, you can't teach experience.
How it stands today, it was the right decision. That's my head.
My heart says I want my QB fighting LBs.

There are other considerations keeping Nuss here:
He sees a talent filled WR room and an incredible, young OL.
He plays a good deal next year, starts for two.
Hopefully JD can capitalize on his opportunity to progress this offseason as well.
I'm optimistic the entire team makes a surmountable leap this offseason.
