Had stuff stolen from my backyard (dog, BBQ pit, bike ETC) The dog really pissed me off, just thinking he probable was used in fighting.. he was just a puppy.

Cars broken into (Bookbag for school and cleaned out all the stereo stuff).

When I was 13 I got the shite beat out of me by some 16+ didn do for no reason while I was walking home from school..

I actually caught a guy in my backyard and told him to get TF outta here.. I have dreams of blowing his head off because he was probably the same MF that stole my dog.. Broke into cars etc.. Called cops they never showed up..

Was mugged by 4 didn does.. Stupid asses dropped some of my money in the street.. They didn't want the car I was driving , it was a real POS..

Reading this thread while in New Orleans east eating lunch. Taquiera la Coyote #4. Great beef burritos. Parked in the lot of a strip mall on Chef.

I'm only nervous when I'm in my wife's car.
I really don't mind the areas off Hayne, Bullard and Read. It's from Morrison to crowder its sketch. The east is more homeowners than renters. Unlike the 7th and upper 9th which I always feel sketchier.

No way to apologize. It's really bad. Personally I profile and keep an eye on people that go by and even now I'm in neutral not park.

I’m not saying it’s ok - as for normal - seems to be normal for most cities with a large population of minorities - which is most cities

Seems more like a smart move than a cowardly move.

That’s not being scared it’s being smart because I 12 is the bypass.

Missed 1 Saints home game since Katrina
Every LSU football game in NOLA
Few Pels games
Many concerts
Few weddings
work once a week

0 incidents with me or any vehicle I have ridden in and I've been in the quarter very late plenty of times

then someone can’t really complain about what’s happening then, can they? If you are so smart with your cushy job and able to get away - what’s your beef with the y’at that wants to stay? Most people go to NOLA with no problems - and that’s kind of the point.

Last time my wife and I were there was a few years ago. We walked out of Pat O’s and decided to grab a slice of pizza at the shop nearby, and as we walked in a shooting happened across the street. We haven’t been back.

Well until you are dead. You are kind of forgetting the hundreds of people every year that can’t do what they want in New Orleans anymore because they were killed in new orleans.

And let’s look at the woman in her 60s. Well for 60 years she wasn’t killed in New Orleans either, until one day she was. And she prob had a longer streak of nothing happening to her than you did.

Long time ago but a married guy I worked w got wasted and picked up a chick in a dive bar. Didn't notice her boyfriend followed them back to the hotel. Rolled him. I'll never forget him on the phone the next morning cancelling his credit cards and then calling his wife.

Got jumped in a drive thru after a concert...some trash behind us was raising hell and I made the mistake of paying them any attention (and getting out of the car).

On a Batchelor party a few years ago, while making our way around the Quarter a buddy got nailed in the nads by a barmaid who claimed we stiffed her for shots. Out in front of the bar. Buddy started raising hell, cops showed up quickly and defused, and we got free shots.

I'm very wary of where I go and stay in any big city. Preferably with a crew.

I went to Tulane and worked in the retail industry during college. I was never a victim of any crime myself, however during my time in NOLA had the following things happen:

* A co-worker murdered
* Multiple co-workers robbed at gunpoint
* Classmates mugged (people I actually knew not just a random student)
* Heard gunshots that was someone getting murdered from my uptown "Tulane bubble" apartment
* Heard gunshots that were kids trying to rob construction workers from the same apartment (luckily no one hurt).

All of these incidents happened in supposedly good areas uptown near Tulane's campus.

How many times has someone I know been victimized by violent crime since leaving NOLA? Zero

How many times have I heard a murder or gunshots since leaving NOLA? Zero

That city clearly has issues. I visit every few years but would never, ever live there again.

Not true. All Japanese cities are safe anytime day or night.

Car broken into 3 times over a period of 5 years (pre-Katrina).

Pick pocketed once.
