I think he gets a lot of playing time being rotated in but with the entire offensive line coming back I don't see him starting.

If he were an early enrollee then I would be willing to give him a chance at starting but I don't see us moving Jones to Guard in the spring with him not on the roster yet. I think he plays tackle and Emory slides to guard and dominates inside eventually but I don't think it happens during the season. I think that happens in 2024.

Unless the Coaches want to slide Frazier to Tackle and have Heard rotate with Frazier at tackle to start the year with Heard eventually taking over the position. But Frazier is better suited at Guard so I'm not too sure that happens.

I think Heard will be the 6th offensive lineman and will rotate in a bunch and get significant playing time to help develop and prepare him for 2024 but not sure he starts as a True Freshman.

Dellinger came in for Martinez when he got injured in the bowl game and his snaps still sucked. Came out slow and low as shite.

I actually kinda do. He will be one of the best OTs on the team as soon as steps on campus and is an early enrollee. That E.E. part is really important as remember Campbell was an E.E. Emery Jones wasnt an E.E. and didnt start at RT till Week 3 against MSU after they tried Wire and Frazier there in Weeks 1 and 2.

He should push Emery Jones inside where he belongs so we can get a true tackle out on the edge again.

He's not joking about being better than Campbell either at LT, he wants that job. Not to sya he pushes Campbell out somewhere else because Campbell was great for a freshman but long term he could project as a more elite LT than Campbell does and Campbell could play RT too.

All in all it's a good problem to have, but I personally would be surprised if Heard doesnt start on the OL in year 1, maybe not right away, but before the end of the season especially if Jones isnt improved at RT.

The problem then becomes who does Jones bump inside as we return everyone there between Dellinger, Frazier and Bradford. Possible Dellinger finally takes the center job but it's not like Frazier or Bradford played bad inside last season either.

Raw. Gonna be good but needs a year of development. He won’t be taking WC job.

I would not call him raw any more. That's where he was at his junior year, but there's a reason he went way way up the boards everywhere this year. Massive improvement from a technical standpoint over the last year.

He's blowing people away at Under Armor this week.

This is what I’d like to see from Heard. Work on your body this offseason like Campbell did last year and come in ready to play.

Cross train him at a few positions (along with Emory Jones) and in the case of an injury (which will happen at some point), you can slide one of them in to basically any position but C.

In other instances can use him as a 6th OL like they did this past year with what’s his face.

If he proves too good to keep on the bench, you shuffle the line to accommodate him. He is your future LT once Campbell leaves or gets injured.

Campbell only started ahead of him at LT because he was a year ahead of him. The same reason Heard likely won’t upend him at lsu.

They are both generational type guys so you aren’t losing much, but Heard is a better prospect & will get drafted higher.

I think Campbell’s knock as a prospect was he didn’t have day 1 size throughout most of the process.

He is more agile and moves better than Heard (not much but noticbly)

Heard is a lot stronger than Campbell was at this point in the process.

If they both came in at the same time you’re right heard would be ahead, but Will got to LSU and got a lot bigger and stronger.

Heard needs improvement in pass pro to be a LT in the SEC. He has too much forward body lean and doesn’t use his hips/legs 100% effectively yet. Quick pass rushers can go right by him. He will be a stud but he has a ways to go. Multiple neville people have already commented that he will need time and I am another one. We watched this kid play every snap this year, he 100% has things he needs to work on before being ready.

Yea those weren't good snaps.
I'd love to see Jones and maybe Frazier cross train at center in the Spring to see if it could give them options on getting the best 5 on the field.
The way Jones moves I'd love to see what he could do at center.
From outside looking in it looks like Martinez is the best option at center but we don't know if the line calls etc are better with Turner. All I know is when Martinez was in the past few games he wasn't being pushed into the backfield.

Coach Kelly , told a story recently that Z. Heard told him he was coming to LSU to play LT. Kelly said to him that we have a pretty good LT in Will Cambell. Z. Heard then said "I played with Cambell in highschool, know him well, and I'm going to be your LT."

BK said he loved the confidence from Heard. I like that confidence also but it will be hard to get Campbell off that LT spot. If Heard wins it that's great and hopefully our whole o line will keep egos in check and play where the coaches need them to play. It is so great to see the depth and competition that Coach Kelly is developing o the O line.

Heard this one a few times so far and CBK didn't seem to crack a smile when saying that's what Heard set out to do. Who knows but it's the best problem we've had since QB.

I don’t see that but I’m not going to knock Campbell. He was my favorite OT prospect lsu had landed since Whitworth.

I just think heard is better. It takes him less effort to block the same guy.

Yeah I agree with you. I don’t want to bash Turner and Martinez only played for a couple of quarters against a depleted Purdue team but the Oline with Martinez looked real nice.
