New Orleans could use a lot of the illegal immigrants since so many businesses claim to not have enough people willing to work.
Bring a few bus loads in and put them to work for NOPD. Can’t hurt anything.

Many, possibly most, aren't from Mexico.

It actually is just that simple.

Also a few more bus loads and put them to work doing cleaning and housekeeping at all the major hotels

it simply, isn’t our problem if we had proper immigration laws and a border.

I don’t blame anyone for wanting to leave Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, or Louisiana.

Because a country either has laws or it does not.
Posted on 12/29/22 at 5:45 pm to SulphursFinest
i don’t either, but there is a process (or should be)

Law and order are pillars of a modern, functioning, society.

Very few people have a problem with immigration. Most people have a problem with illegal immigration. Don't know who they are, where they are from, are they good guys or bad guys, are there too many or not enough... none of that can be answered without an orderly immigration system which includes a method to prevent illegal immigration.
The last time I came back to the US from overseas, the US border and customs patrol grilled me with questions. But on the southern border, there's none of that. Just come on in, here's a piece of paper telling you to show up to a hearing in a few weeks, see ya then, have a nice day.
I wish a reporter would show up to one of these hearings and do a story on how 99% don't show up.

First breath: "Inflation is too high?
Next breath: "We need to close down our borders!"
Since you’re obviously mentally slow let me spell out the actual argument.
People want less government spending, and particularly on entitlements, so that inflation won’t be so bat shite insane.
People also want legal immigration and find the phrase, jobs Americans won’t do repugnant. Americans are no better than any other man, woman, or child. Why should immigrants be forced to do those jobs but not Americans.
So yes, we want the reign in inflation and stop illegal alien immigration.
Posted on 12/29/22 at 5:51 pm to Sgt Tuffnuts
They can’t legally work in the US, so they can only work under the table. Employers take advantage of it and pay the illegal immigrant worker less than they’d have to pay a citizen or legal resident…thus depressing wages for citizens and legal residents. The employer dodges payroll taxes and the illegal employee isn’t paying income taxes, increasing the burden on those of us who pay taxes along with straining state and local budgets for public services that those illegals utilize.
ETA: i have no issue with people immigrating here if they follow the laws to do so. Let them be vetted to keep out criminals and make sure they have the ability to support themselves financially once they’re allowed in. None of this being the world’s charity with people immigrating here to take advantage of government handouts

From that perspective, immigration is going to insulate the US from a lot of that, certainly as compared to China.
