Usually an uneventful week leading up to the new year. Surprised we are seeing markets down like this for the last week of the year.

Predictions for next year seem pretty grim. I’m not going to be surprised if the markets even lower than this a year from now and falls for the second straight year.
Eta don’t even think that happened during the 2008 financial crisis. Last time was probably around 2000 dot com bubble.

Well, we have 33 trillion of debt and a federal reserve balance sheet of 8 trillion.
Lord help us of the fed had to operate like a real bank.
I look to Japan and see the unbelievable printing activity by their fed and it has to come to a halt.
PEs are still too inflated - we just had the lowest interest rates and worst bond market in the history of the English speaking language….now, rates have a real chance of exploding
Yes, the markets are not happy.

We’re somewhere in between fear and panic.

How do you know which stage when you can't figure out if you're going through...
Capitulation
Despondency
Depression
Happy New Year.

I think its tax loss harvesting and we see a bounce back early in the year, then another slump through the fall. Hoping next fall are past the bottom.
I think theres also a non-zero chance we see a crash that takes us back to covid territory. Remember the last bull run was based on cheap money, We haven't even seen that correction yet.

I bought a few beaten down tech stocks to close out the year. These are stocks that were way overbought at the beginning of last year and have basically crashed but I do like their tech.I figure they could go a little lower but the upside is skyhigh when the market turns. When that happens noone knows.Five years from now I'm hoping Ill be like dang I can't believe it was that cheap.

The new Congress kicks off on Jan. 3rd. It will be interesting to see how that affects the economic outlook once the treasury looting is stopped or at least reduced.
It's a big problem when we have the idiots in DC on a spending binge for all of their favorite BS while the Fed is jacking up interest rates to fight inflation. That should change on Jan. 3rd.
