Analysis: Alabama's recruiting in Louisiana is severely overrated.

LSU fans have a severe inferiority complex and there is a mistaken belief that Saban just comes in Louisiana and takes whoever he wants. It's completely false.
Saban's recruiting in Louisiana is very over-rated. Christian Harris is LSU's only miss in the last 6 years, not including 2022-23 signees who are unproven.
Over the past 6 years, including 2023, Alabama has signed 11 players from Louisiana:
2023: 1 signee: QB Eli Holstein
2022: 4 signees during a transition year: Lewis, Law, Anderson and Preston. Aaron Anderson has already transferred back to LSU. The other three made little impact. The jury is still out on this group.
2021: 1 signee: Kaine Williams (did he even have an LSU offer?) He's already transferred.
2020: 1 signee Kyle Edwards (don't think he had an LSU offer)Has already transferred to Southeastern Louisiana
2019: 2 signees, Sopsher and Harris. Sopsher has already transferred. Harris was a very good player.
2018: 2 signees Slade Bolden and Eddie Smith. Both 3 stars. Bolden was extremely average and Smith has transferred.

I'd like to pull Kendrick Law back from them, especially if he'd be willing to play safety.

Not a single player on that list completed his eligibility at Alabama.

Great post. Last year was a pretty good haul for them, but like you said, one has already transferred back and in the transfer portal era, there's no telling how long these guys stay there.
2017 was the last time Alabama truly was able to raid Louisiana and that was also a staff transition year.

Your fallacy is that he doesn’t want most kids in Louisiana. He sometimes takes players late that he doesn’t even need at positions we do just to screw LSU.
He had no need to sign Slade Bolden, Hootie Jones, Eddie Smith, Kyle Edwards, and Danny Lewis. He only wanted them because LSU did.

Out of that list, LSU only wanted Lewis.
Hootie decommitted from bama and tried to get back with LSU and they told him his spot had been filled.
Why don’t you talk about fournette, sage, Roy or any of the other hundreds of guys Saban wanted from LA.

He seems to hate LSU. I guess he was so hurt by the dismal end to his hero Orgeron he has taken on the persona of the jilted lover.

D Smith was the most productive but it happened at a time when we had some of our best WR’s. Saban talks about Smitty like he was one of his favorite players so I’ll assume that he was very good for the locker room.
From further back, Tim Williams was very good and also started and finished his career at BAMA. We probably lose more players in recruiting battles in the Atlanta & Houston (metro) regions but we also win many of those battles. We lose talent to every college recruiting La because they all recruit La. That’s why CBK is coaching at LSU…
Fournette was the best recruiting win against Bama. Especially after hearing Founette, years later, talk about how close he came to signing with Bama.

Hootie Jones and Lewis were the only ones of that list that LSU ever offered.

How is offering players that LSU doesn’t want screwing with LSU?

Irrefutable logic. Top to bottom

Now list all the players from Alabama that LSU wanted and stole from Alabama that Saban wanted. It’s always been a one way street. We gotta fight to keep our best home yet Saban and the REC don’t have to break a sweat. We are no threat for any the Gumps want to keep.

Good point. You don’t hear Saban being called the goat for no reason.

Kendrick Law was the prize of the four we lost to Bama two years ago.
Next year should tell us what we lost.

Devonta Smith? Ishmael Sopsher?
Nvm. Saw you had Ishmael already. What a bum he turned out to be.

Cameron Robinson was pretty good. Started at left tackle as a true freshman.
Landon Collins was also pretty good.
