While Christmas is fast-approaching, another holiday is coming up right behind it: Kwanzaa. The day to celebrate all things Africa is almost upon us. We'll give you a crash course on what the holiday is—and how to celebrate.

What is Kwanzaa?
First celebrated in 1966, Kwanzaa is a celebration of Black culture and African diasporic unity. Each day of Kwanzaa is dedicated to a principle that's supposed to be reflected on and celebrated. In order, the principles are Umoja (unity), Kujichagulia (self-determination), Ujima (collective work and responsibility), Ujamaa (cooperative economics), Nia (purpose), Kuumba (creativity) and Imani (faith).

What does Kwanzaa start?
Kwanzaa begins this year on Monday, December 26th and runs through Sunday, January 1.

How many days does Kwanzaa last?
Kwanzaa lasts seven days in total. It is a week-long celebration observed annually.

I would love to see the FBI statistics on the number of black on black murders during Kwanzaa.

If you have to explain the holiday then it’s not a real thing.

Imagine a week-long celebration of white unity and the outcry that it would produce.

Kwanzaa is a great holiday to be paired with CRT. It’s racist.

Umoja (unity) - more genocides in Africa than anywhere else on Earth

Kujichagulia (self-determination) - same group that votes over 90% for the same people every time every election for 70 years straight

Ujima (collective work and responsibility) - communism

Ujamaa (cooperative economics) - super communism

Nia (purpose) - electing commies

Kuumba (creativity) - I don't even know what this means

Imani (faith) - in government

Kwanzaa is a made up holiday by a commie terrorist in jail in the 60's, mostly celebrated by liberal white karens. Look it up.

Can ya imagine Christmas or hanukkah being so obscure that when talking about them... one has to always mention the history of them, in order to make people remember what they are?

I understand that people celebrate it, and that's fine if it works for them. I just don't understand the existence of kwanzaa. There are probably a lot of legit holidays or important days across the African continent. Instead of utilizing one of those, kwanzaa was created. I mean... think about it. Legit African culture is shunned for an American created faux African holiday.

No one needs racism, much less at Christmas time. Christmas is for all races and nationalities. Africans don't even celebrate kuwanza
