7th on On3 and 24/7
6th on Rivals

Alabama and Georgia consistently dominate recruiting, Georgia started dominating in year 2 of Kirby Smart. In the NIL world it seems we have even more competition with the heavy donor schools. I would think we stay in the 5-10 range from here on out.

We just got a new coach. Before you relegate us to some lower tier, how about we give him time to build relationships…

3-7 every year with the right roster management and good coaching equals national titles.

This isn’t going to be a well received post but if we want to be a consistent playoff participant versus a once every 4-5 years we’re going to have to do a little bit better. A lot will say that the difference between where we are and top is marginal, but that margin is getting an extra Harold Perkins. Over the course of a few cycles that really adds up.

BK did a god job getting some dynamic and core players from the HS ranks. I wouldn't get too hung up on rankings though until the transfers are included.

We've added transfer rated:
Denver Harris - 96
Aaron Anderson - 92
Paris Shand - 92
Swinson and Lee are not transfer rated yet

Hopefully we get some help at LB and DT in the portal and another CB. That would round out a very good class.

When we’ll get 10-15 new incomers via the portal, the raw HS recruiting rankings are less important in the grand scheme vs overall talent infusion.

Denver Harris, if he’s committed is plug and play game 1 starter and won’t count in the tally but Ricks who will walk into a deep CB room at Bama and may play ST and 5-10 snaps per game on defense moves the needle as a 5 star.

I like our approach, Ricks accepted our NIL Tuesday (and it was significant) only to come back on Wednesday and ask for more after Bama raised the ante. His focus is more matierial and he’ll be the highest paid DB at Bama next year. If he doesn’t start that’s how rooms break down like A&M this year.

We are actually 5th on On3 and 247.

You’re looking at composite rankings.

We have a good class addressing needs. Kelly has done a great job, we’ve just missed on a few to bring us to top 3.

Somewhere around 6th or 7th is probably where lsu's average class has been since 2000, some years better some years lower, and we won 3 natties so

The difference just needs to be high quality OL/DL to put LSU in the playoff hunt every year.

That is the thing that has separated Bama all these years. LSU will always have enough skill guys and athletes. I’m convinced QB talent is in good hands with Kelly and LSU is on the verge of having a dominant Oline.

The one chink in the armor so far has been Dline recruiting…specifically DT.

Roster management is more important than the class ranking. This class was clearly about building up the trenches and the secondary. Not getting Ricks stung a little, but a back fill with Denver Harris is equal, if not better, for the program.

Point is, don’t get too caught up in the class ranking this cycle, or maybe even next. There’s a roster that still has to be built over time. The roster desperately needs big guys, so that’s what you got for most of this class.

Not sure how y’all can’t see by now that recruiting rankings aren’t worth all that much. Between bias, transfers and apathy from NIL it’s become a game of roster management like a Wild West NFL.

Brian Kelly actually is in a great position building a new program under these new parameters and seems to have a great grasp of the roster management aspect.

Well, the number 7 & 15 class in consecutive years became the 2019 LSU tigers. That worked out okay.

Screw the rankings. Brown and Sampson are as good as any receiver in the country. They were dropped in the rankings due to committing so early.

And we moved up to #9 on the Portal Transfer Rankings after Denver Harris joined the Tigers. And we are not done, hopefully more good news soon on this front.

I'm not thrilled about how we did on the La top 10.

I doubt it. There were several top LA recruits lost before Kelly got here and a few who were leaving the state no matter what.

Look at the 24 class and the beginnings of 25. We will be back to dominating the state and keeping the top players home. If we do that and have the same success nationally we did this year, we will be in the 3-8 range yearly.
