I do and have. I’m only half serious. Everybody loves and hates the thing at the same time. Been doing it for like 8 years. I’m out of ideas lol

I agree. The Elf turns into a PITA and once you do it…you have to keep doing it.

Plus….kids don’t have to be very old before they give it a close look and figure out it’s a 50 cent piece of Chinese crap.

Oh and the worst rule we created?

He comes when we put up the tree. We put up the tree the day after Thanksgiving. That’s 30 days or so of ideas lol. Me & the Mrs play paper, rock, scissors to see who has to move it

Can’t lie though. I love it when my wife puts him in a container with a note that says “now you can take me with you”. My daughter’s eyes light up and that thing is glued to her

I asked my 2 year old where he thought our elf might hide tomorrow, and he said, “daddy’s gonna move it to the curtains!” He also put a bunch of stocking stuffers in the cart at Target & said they’re for his elf to bring him. He’s onto us

My mother in law gifted us that damn elf. I hate it. Mainly because it's another thing to do. We didn't do it this year and told the kids that he died. Lol

Just get something that looks similar to an elf - don’t get that “elf on the shelf” thing. Don’t start w the cutesy elf shitting in the sink and other elf tableaus - just hide the damn thing where kids can barely find it. The elf doesn’t need to hold anything hostage in your refrigerator.

Don’t do it if you don’t like it.

Our kids love it. Their smiles are worth it.

It's like hiding Easter Eggs. It's fun.

People triggered by the Elf have mistletoe stuck up their arse.

I mean, it comes with a book to serve as the instructions. Just follow the book and all is well. It's not that hard.

I love the Elf. My Kids are obsessed with it's magic. It really is fun to see them so mesmerized by it.

Our neighborhood has an elf party on Christmas Eve. 12/23 after the kids go to bed all the elves are dropped off at a house. Adults drink bourbon and set up an elaborate scene where the elves are having a party.

9am Christmas Eve all the kids come over and check out what the elves have been up to and have some donuts/hot chocolate.

That night they ride home with Santa.

It’s elaborate and a bit of a pain and my kids have aged out to the point of helping set up the party. It was a fun time.

There were times I wanted to throw that fricking thing in the Vitamix though.
