Who else is at war with mice right now?

The little bastards seem to be in great abundance and extremely aggressive this year. Everyone I know in SLA is having issues with mice mostly but some cases of rats as well. I know a couple who had their house flooded this week after rats ate through the water lines of their hot water heater.
I had mice running around my shop in broad daylight a week ago. I set out traps all around the shop and went back today for the 1st time since. All the stinking traps are missing.
Feel free to share your rodent remedies on the eve of this winter freeze.

I don’t live in a rat infested home.

That’s because you live on the streets.

Not me. Maybe they’re just trying to increase the holiday cheer in your home

Mice get into the attic. It's been a yearly hassle. Had the exterior exclusions done twice by two companies. I even put borax insulation down thinking it'd poison them.
I haven't had as many issues but it's been a pain in the butt dealing with them.

It’s winter. They always come inside this time of year.
I think they’re cute.
Or you can just get a cat.

Between the cold weather and burning cane fields, this time is when we start getting them, but I get the Tomcat poison, its dog and child proof supposedly, but it comes with a plastic station, you put the poison in it.. I set it under the sink. I usually have to refill it 2 or 3 times before they are all gone, but those bastards are annoying.

Yeah, they might be cute, but not when they start multiplying.

Julie the cat to the rescue. I should rent her out. Mouse/rat killing machine.

Or when they destroy something or die behind a wall

I have renters, family, friends etc out in your area and they are all telling me it’s worse than normal this year. My aunt has been in the area for over 50 years and she claims that this is the worst she’s experienced. The little bastards managed to eat through ROMEX dishing power to the lights in my shop.

Rat zapper trap by Viktor. Available from Home Depot. Oates Mustache suggested it so I got one. Works good Id and is kind of neat to fool with.

I've caught four or five this year that found a way in around the same time as always......when they harvested the fields. Got those and haven't seen or heard anymore.

Go around your home and take some steel wool and plug the gaps in your brick or veneer. Look around the entry from your A/C to inside the house. Plug your weep holes with steel wool. That's how most of mine got in. Tighten those entries. I got 2 mice trap boxes from J&Js on the outside. Supposed to kill them.
Haven't seen much activity since. Our problems here are usually in Spring from what I see.

Are you surrounded by cane fields that have been harvested or something?

I find the traditional rat trap by Victor with peanut butter does the trick. Got some in my attic and garage recently and caught many a Norwegian that way.
