McMahon’s offensive sets (especially out of bounds plays) are things of beauty. His brand of basketball may not as be as exciting, but there is no doubt this guy can coach. This team deserves fan support when conference play rolls around.

His set plays after TOs are very good.

There’s nothing wrong with his O either. More talent would help.

Murray State went 31-3 last year. We need to give this guy two recruiting classes and then his coaching ability will shine

They play good basketball. We lack talent right now, but that was expected.

I’m sorry but we don’t lack talent. With Miller, KJ, Hill, Hayes, Reid, EW, Reid, Fountain we have the most talent coach MM will have in years to come. We are barely beating teams we should be destroying due to our defense and defensive intensity. MM lack emotion on the sideline.
With all this said MM is such a better coach than I thought we would get after the wade dismissal. But the die hard fans are disappointed this year because we went from a title contender with wade to a bubble team when we got rid of wadef

The General is gone Tigerbacon, and it's his own fault. I agree that Wade got good players; he wasn't a good technical coach.

It is funny how people claim that he wasn’t a good “technical” coach, what ever the hell a technical coach looks like.

During his time at LSU he had multiple seasons where his teams were top 30 in offensive efficiency. Then last his team was top 20 defensive efficiency. Talent alone doesn’t get you there on either front, especially the defensive side.

More importantly, his team made the tournament his last 4 years and he led the SEC in conference wins during that 4 year span. FYI we weren’t the most talented team in the conference in any of those 4 years, probably were never better than 3 in talent alone during his time at LSU.

My guess is you don’t watch college basketball regularly and have not clue what you are talking about.

This is not a knock on MM. I can actually be pissed off that Wade was fired and hope that MM succeeds at the same time. There are things that concern me at this point. Winthrop is a very bad basketball team and that game was competitive. This LSU team has at least NBA caliber player in Miller and another player in Williams who could be potentially make it to that level. I would not say this team lacks talent. It is certainly more talented than WW’s first year.

MM can certainly coach, I hope he proves that he do it consistently at the P5 level, like Wade did over 5 years at LSU.

You’re in for a very rude awakening.

We aren’t talented AT ALL.

KJ is solid.

I’m one of those who doesn’t think he was a good technical coach. They basically played street ball, and won with talent. When we played other good teams, it showed.

This^^^^^

I'm all in for CMM. I think he's a good coach. I am giving him the benefit of time. But I'll at least say this = we can certainly play better with this collection of players against the schedule we've had to this point.

We can argue on the level of talent all day, but in the end it's all relative is it not? I don't think anyone would argue we're more talented than Winthrop or any of the 8 teams we've played at home yet all the games but one have looked the same. We let bad teams hang around all game.

Yes the offense looks more aesthetically pleasing to an old white guy like me, yet we barely scratch by against all these Quad 4 opponents we are favored by 15-20 points against.

Talent wise all you have to do is look at Efton Reid
He is barely playing at Gonzaga

There is talent but we’re still a couple pieces short. Could use a couple shooters, another PG, and a post.

MM is a better x's and o's coach, hands down.

Problem is you've really got (2) scorers and Miller isn't putting the ball in the hole enough.

We have four guys on the team who can play PG. that’s much better than in recent years.

You mean like the top 10 Kentucky team he beat last year at home or the top 10 Tennessee team he beat at home last year.

Or maybe the top 10 Kentucky team he beat at Lexington in 2019.

Or how about the eventual national runner up, Michigan, he beat in Maui in 2017?

Please define “street ball”? Is it not running “plays”? If “street ball” consistently finishes in the top 30 offensive efficiency rating, then sign me up for street ball.

Anytime you see the term “street ball” you know the poster has no clue what they’re talking about and knows nothing about basketball. It’s obvious these people are just Wade haters making excuses. They don’t give a shite about McMahon they’d be making excuses for anyone not named WW. To me he’s doing fine, we’re 10-1, I can remember CJs freshman year when we were losing to teams like Oral Roberts, and LA Tech people were picking us last in the SEC but we beat Georgetown we beat UNLV and gutted out 11 wins in the SEC to make the NCAA tourney. It’s still all there for us, we have plenty of talent and if McMahon just tightens up the rotation and makes the switch at point we’re gonna be fine.
