I really hope Philly refuses to house and feed whatever country is playing the United States like they did for the Astros.

I'm guessing they haven't figured out what they're going to do with turf v grass in some of those stadiums. Will be a hot debate, would be shameful to play a WC on turf.

Imagine playing in Toronto and your next match is in Guadalajara.

Does FIFA even allow turf for official tournaments?

All men's WC games will be played on grass. It's a requirement.

Stadiums with turf will have grass laid in them as was done in 1994.

As someone else mentioned they don’t for mens tournaments. I think after the uproar over the turf fields in Canada for the womens World Cup, equal treatment, etc they no longer allow turf for women either.

Will the superdome ever host a significant soccer game? Even a preseason friendly?

Would appreciate non-OT/poli board input

Probably not, usually you have to pay fifa lots of money to host games in third world countries.

USWNT played China at Superdome back in 2015 which was Wambach's last game. also looking it up USWNT played in Superdome in 2017 against Korea Republic.

I went to the China game and attendance was over 30,000

All stadiums will have grass. And it won't be just sod, all the stadiums will start growing real grass a year in advance.

How are do y’all expect the US group games to go? I’d assume you’d have one on the west coast, one in the “center”, think KC or TX and one on the east coast?

I think FIFA did away with the 3 team group idea. I bet we see 4 team groups with an extra elimination game and some third place teams going through.

I read that as a rumor as well, hopefully that's the case.
