I’m legit asking what the punishment would have been if he was still the coach

Miami got punished for what they did via contact. CSP got punished I quess you could say by looking like a arse for said contact and not being able to coach for 3 years via Saints holding his contract.

Assuming all of this is correct (no reason to doubt that it isn't), the Saints are the only "victim" in this scenario. And the end result is they lose the only coach in the history of the franchise, flawed as he was, that was consistently worth a damn, make some shitty draft trades costing us a top 5 pick, start the follow-up season 4-9 making his replacement a lame duck, and to date, garner no compensation for losing said coach.

I wish I could say that is unprecedented for this franchise, but it doesn't even make the top 10.

No shot in hell Payton will return here. He wanted out and retired because he knew he fricked up the Saints organization. He wants LA.

We want Payton to want to come back. We want him to get out over his skis and get teams interested.

Brees was greedy plain and simple

Thats just absurd, Brees was underpaid for several years & IMO deserved more money than the Saints could give him.

Too bad we let Dan Campbell get away. Seems like he was a better HC candidate than DA. I wonder if Aaron Glenn would’ve been better than DA. He has fire that DA just doesn’t seem to have.

Payton was HC this year. Saints would win the division.

Not sure we need to go that far.
