He pissed away so many years here with Brees as our QB because of him giving two shits about the defense side of the ball.
So true

Miami got punished for what they did via contact. CSP got punished I quess you could say by looking like a arse for said contact and not being able to coach for 3 years via Saints holding his contract.
But if there was no punishment for it if he stayed, then no that’s not the reason why he left.

Most of the players don’t live in New Orleans. What is even being discussed here?
Ormond Estates where many players live is a shitehole as well compared to most NFL player’s neighborhoods in other markets. The Saints are on borrowed time here.

Didn’t he pretty much say this in his original announcement, and specifically said it wasn’t a “retirement”?
Not really.

Payton said the difficult season didn’t force his retirement though
bullshite lol. He didn’t want to be a part of a rebuild and he knew that. Which is why he’s saying not even a year after, that he’s ready to get back into coaching and wants “the right situation” aka a team ready to win.
quote:
I looked at it as an opportunity to see my kids more, to travel more to get in better shape.”
Yea that was all bullshite lol. He definitely didn’t get in better shape.
Plain and simple, he didn’t want to be part of a rebuild time and he made excuses that sounded good and he’s ready to get right back into coaching with an easier path.

Does he still have to go to the city to work? Yes. If I have his money, frick this city. You can live anywhere
I mean. Yea he’s gotta go there one day a week for a handful of weeks a year.

You can live anywhere and do anything, you choose here?
No you can’t “live anywhere and do anything.” There’s 32 places you can pick to live and be a head coach in the nfl. Lots of other nfl cities have issues.

I don’t know how many players live there but there’s many other spots they can live.

While I'm grateful for the great years he and Drew provided to the organization, they are also the reason we are in our current situation.
Brees and his greed kept him hanging on 2-3 years too long and Payton bailed when he knew the situation was unfrickable. With that said, we should have had 2-3 more Super Bowl appearances during their tenure.

They do live elsewhere. They live in Old Metairie and Audubon Place and English Turn and Lakeview and along the lake and Chateau Estates
This is a silly discussion

He tired to get Mahomes and would have won at least one more Super Bowl and still been the coach had KC not unexpectedly jumped us by 1 spot. And nobody would have expected the Saints to take Mahomes either. Brees could have been great trade bait after mentoring Mahomes for 2 years.

Face it. Married or not, Coach Payton liked pussy. Pussy should be in the HoF. No one gets to the Hall of Fame unless pussy is the goal.

Didn't happen and your basing your comments as if it did. You speak like a time traveler. Are you a time traveler?

Can’t blame him get as far from NOLA as possible

Payton never said he was retiring. The word retire never came out of his mouth. He said he was taking a break. The board assumed he was retiring and ran with it.

You said his conversation lead to him mutually agreeing to leave the saints. That makes no sense because there would have been no punishment for the saints if he stayed.
