Finley as a true freshman at LSU. 5 games (5 starts)

Comp...Attempts...Comp %...Yards...TD...INT
80............140..........57.1.........941.......5.....5

Garrett Nussmeier career at LSU. 10 games (1 start)

Comp...Attempts...Comp %...Yards...TD...INT
70............126..........55.6.........956.......5.....5

Before jumping to conclusions, I am a fan of what I saw from Nuss last weekend and hope to hell he stays and competes for a starting role.

I just find its amazing that they have/had almost identical stats. The main difference of course is that Finley had the benefit of starting and the week(s) of practice reps with the first team that goes into that.

Something else interesting is that almost all of Finley's success came in his first appearance, while all of Nussmeiers came in his latest appearance. What I take from this is Nuss has far too small of a sample size to make any declaration about his future success, but the the improvement of his play Saturday was damn strong.

The eye test has to play a part in QB evals. Nuss is a much better passer than Finley. His best moments even came against one of the best D’s in the country

Nuss actually has more turnovers than he does TDs. Doesn't account for fumbles on that list. He has a pretty staggering high amount of TOs for limited touches in his 2 years and also a high amount of sacks. Don't matter how pretty his ball is that doesn't get cleaned up it will never outweigh his positives.

If he had started all season behind this young and patchwork line, he would have been sacked about fitty leven times

When I see Nuss do what he did Saturday WITHOUT two turnovers, on a consistent basis game in game out, I’ll join the bandwagon. Until then, he’s the kid airmailing balls out of bounds, getting Kelly red faced in the auburn game to me.

Do it with the game on the line. Big big difference than Saturday.

He can't get it cleaned up if he never gets to play.

One reason is because defenses adjust to the QB,

JD saw teams adjust all season. Georgia wasn’t ready for Nuss. Next time teams will be ready. Nuss will have to adjust too.

JD has 4 years worth of tape, and it's all the exact same. It seems like JD gets figured out every season.

Kelly was smiling like a kid on Christmas morning after Nuss threw that dime on the 4th and 10 scramble

If you're waiting for a quarterback to throw for 294 yards per half with zero turnovers on a consistent basis, it might be a while.

You’re comparing a starting QB to a garbage time QB?

Genius.

I agree to an extent. Nuss made 2-3 throws where defensive miscues and his receivers bailed him out. If you go back and look at the SC game for Finley, some of the same type throws were completed. It made for a week of off the chart Finley hype on here.

Overall though, there is no comparison between the two with the eye test. Nuss just plays with so much more intensity. And Finley is taller.

You guys will be calling for Daniels or Walker after he throws his first pick

I wanted to compare him to a garbage time kicker, but I gave up after three days of searching.

Most people who are ignorant to sports use partial, incomplete statistics and double standards to make an absolute assessment of what they don’t understand. For example your logic suggests Johnny Manziel is a far better QB than Tom Brady because “muh stats.” It’s a crutch for the ignorant.

That's fine. Are you prepared to have growing pains and lose games because of it? I doubt BK or the fanbase has the patience for a young QB.

Every QB should be allowed to grow, both in practice and in games. I dont want a scared-to-pass conservative offense that has been the hallmark of the LSU program for over a decade minus 1 season.

You have to be a prolific passing team to accomplish anything.
