Unless we get major upgrades at IOL and RB, we won't be able to run for shite next year without JD
YOu may have to depend on his running if receivers hit the portal looking for a place that will throw them the ball. So Nuss and a couple receives may transfer to the same place.

His RUNNING stats put him in the conversation. That isn’t the problem unless defenses (let’s see, Arky, A&M, & Georgia) squat on him. If he doesn’t significantly improve as a pocket passer, he’s a liability back there. The O-line needs at least two more studs.

You said this wasn’t his best year.
So just so I’m clear, you would rather more pass yards at the expense of more total yards & TDs and overall production?

No one honestly knows how many games LSU wins this year with nuss at qb.
Say you think the season would have gone better with Nuss. Why don’t you just say it?
Because it’s a stupid thing to say and you’ll look stupid. Don’t use bullshite bad faith arguments.

Flynn won and championship and threw for 6 TD's in an NFL game.
Skill sets don't always make the offense run better.
A big arm doesn't always indicate the value of a quarterback.

This will be my last response. I’m obviously arguing with an idiot who lacks reading comprehension. This is my original post. And yes, if on some of those runs where he has a clean pocket and takes off early with a WR open downfield you are trading a few rushing yards for a big passing play. Don’t need to be a mathematician to figure that out. I would say you should know better but obviously not.
My original post:
quote:
It could be argued that he has peaked, and considering he’s been starting for four years and the biggest knock on him is he doesn’t make reads fast enough is concerning. After 4 years of starting and you’re still struggling to make reads, that’s an issue. Not saying he can’t improve in that area but it’s a pretty big concern seeing that he plays the QB position.
All of what I said is true. His rushing yards did help LSU, no question about it. We needed that mobility with a patch work OLine. With that being said, and the point we are making, as a passer, he has peaked. You can say he ran for a million yards and it won’t change the fact that as a passer he has hit his ceiling. He threw for more yards as a freshman with one great WR than he did this year with a much better WR group. He ran a lot but how many of those runs did he take off too early with a wide open receiver downfield? And being as though his running ability is what really sets him apart what happens whenever he hurts his ankle and we are stuck with a hurt running qb who is an average passer? We get what we had the last two games. I don’t think he was exactly 100% vs Arkansas either. But let’s not let facts get in the way. And the facts are he is an elite runner when healthy and an average QB every time he doesn’t run.

Nuss showed that he should have been the guy all along - the Auburn, UF, and Bama games are probably much less close and we probably beat aTm.
You’re mental
You watched 2 quarters of football where lsu was down big the entire time and came away with this conclusion. It’s laughable, you’re laughable.

Daniels isnt going to change. 5 seasons of stats bare that out. It's a mental thing, he's gun shy and can't pull the trigger.

He only made those uber risky throws vs Southern because he was trying to make the most of limited opportunity and pressed too much.
And y’all are accusing people of making excuses for JD

Also, it is why the NFL is becoming less and less talented at the QB position.
NFL is as loaded at qb as it’s ever been. Even the middle of the pack qb’s are good. That’s cause teams are finally figuring out ways to best use physically talented qb’s instead of trying to force them into systems.

To him. What’s unfortunate is other dumb fricks who throw rushing stats at an argument about passing ability.

They get mad at us for talking bad about JD5 but throw our RB’s under the bus to protect jd….

You conveniently leave out JD’s rushing totals for both years which is a big part of his game!
2019 125/355yds 3 TD’s
2022 180/818yds 11 TD’s
Lazy!

If you can't see the difference in arm talent from nuss to JD, I can't help you. Also, nuss isn't a statue and moves around in the pocket well with his eyes downfield.
Love all these experts who can't help you if you don't see what they see. Nuss throws a much nicer-looking pass. I haven't seen anyone debate that.
Is that the only criteria used to select your starting QB? How pretty his pass is?

Again, you're arguing with someone who has not indicated otherwise. Just can't help yourself I guess.
Wait, I have it. If you can't see I'm not arguing those points, I can't help you.

I threw out his full production total when you said his freshmen year was his best. Which we came to the conclusion was false .
Which also does not support your theory that he is done growing. Cause if his latest season was his best, that cannot be the case.

We were in QB hell for a long time with a few good to greats sprinkled in here and there.
I look forward to continued consistent QB play. I think LSU's QBs will continue to do well moving forward.

Again, rushing stats brought up in an argument about a QB peaking at PASSING THE BALL is fricking lazy.
Let me walk you through this since you’re also a fricking idiot. This is my original post.
Then the reply by Lester.
quote:
He had his best season of his career by far here at lsu this past year.
How can you call that a peak when he tangibly improved as a player
For context, since that evades you, I was simply talking about peaking as a passer. Rushing yards and touchdowns are great. But for the argument I’m actually making, he has peaked as a passer. There’s no denying that. I’m not going to add rushing yards whenever the argument is him peaking as a passer. Holy shite I feel like I’m fricking taking crazy pills.

The backup is always better at most schools. JD led the Tigers to a Sec Championship game with victories over Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss, etc. He will be our starter next year so get ready!
