Citation needed. He had more rushing yards than anyone else. At passing the ball - you know, the quarterbacks main duty - he wasn't second all time in anything meaningful.

Imagine thinking touchdowns don’t matter lmao

He was on 1 leg as a mobile QB. He shouldn't have played given how hurt he was.

agreed. he probably shouldn't have played at all during this game.

He can run. That’s about it. He’s not very good at playing quarterback, though.

Davey 2001 - 3347 yards, 18 TDs in 12 games

Mauck has a slight edge in ypa and rating, but had a much higher INT rate and lower completion rate. Then you look at rushing and JD blows him out of the water.

Rohan was similar, with fewer passing TDs and worse rushing.

you're going to have SOME int's challenging DB's down field in a season. the fact that daniels only had 2 actual int's and only one was a downfield throw tells you all you need to know about his resistance to push the ball.

he had one int in the tennessee game in the end zone and one playing arkansas on a wtf throw.

He wasn’t bad at all but just looking at raw stats doesn’t tell the whole story

The box wasn't what made the difference, the lines were. JD's running ability took another DL's attention, which opened things up on the zone-based plays.

Our RB talent outside of Emery is pitiful and our IOL was pushed around all year. We schemed a running game through Daniels.

Running back talent wasn't terrible, but yes it wasn't great.

Rhythm is important, and JD also killed rhythm at times in read option plays by making the wrong decision.

Guy is a great player/athlete, but simply doesn't have the quick decision making needed at the QB position to succeed.

People hated on the OL much of the season, but tons of their sacks are on JD holding the ball and refusing to pull the trigger. LSU gave up the most sacks in the league this season. It was bad.

Some of you actually think Daniels is going to make LSU into a title contender next season, but he showed significant improvement for only 3 games, and the rest were same ole Jayden, which is still not bad, but not going to win you a title.

Why did you ignore his rushing stats? You know, which give him 500 more yards and 8 more TDs?

We're likely going to have a worse overall roster next year, so title contender is unlikely.

Our only hope of being a title contender, however, is if JD can take that step (or Howard is a GOAT-level QB prospect)

We shouldn't be thinking of 2023 as a "title" year, though. Our D is going to be far less talented. We will need insane portal luck to restock the roster.

Yes but they were not playing nearly as aggressive. They were up 25 points. You think defensive play calling stays the same up that big? It does not.

I totally agree with you, so know that you are not alone. Remember that this place has a small but vocal minority. Anyone with any sense about them appreciates what Daniels did this season and understands that Nuss would have gotten decapitated early in the season if he were playing behind the O-line that hadn't found its footing yet.

When in doubt, defer to the guy who has been coaching over 30 years and has won at every stop over the babbling dumbasses that post here.

JD is definitely better at getting sacked, which will kill a drive, and also much better at dropping back to throw with zero thought to actually pass the ball as he waits for defenders to get down the field so he can run.

He did a really great job at running as a QB, maybe the best running QB we've ever had, better than Herb, but he was a terrible QB from the pocket.
We don't need the best athlete on our team to be the QB. We recruit 5* WR's every year. Get them the damn ball.
JD was so bad at throwing deep that it almost helped when he did it b/c he either threw it wildly over and out of bounds, or he under threw the shite out of it, causing the WR to have to come back to the ball and the defender to get an interference call.

You're not going to win anything of significance with a QB that has zero passing game, and JD has zero passing game other than a quick throw to a wide open WR, and he's not even that accurate with that, throwing quick slants behind guys many times this year.

And what sucks is JD actually has a really good arm, he just doesn't know how to use it, or his brain. He's basically Brandon Harris except JD is an elite runner.
