Looking at taking the family somewhere warm for Mardi Gras break and flight prices are pretty high. Have checked flights out of Nola and Houston and they are still pretty steep. I have google price alerts set up, but wanted to see if you guys had any insights or tips

Thanks

IN

Looking at a flight in June. Hopper and my credit card say prices should drop over the next several months, but book before February. So I’ve been watching, and set up alerts, but prices have only gone up $100.

Just wondering when or if there will be a price drop, sale or something upcoming.

I'm always searching and have noticed the same thing.

Was able to book MSY-DCA for Mardi Gras on points for pretty cheap yesterday during their cyber Monday sale.

I'm not thrilled about DC but the wife and kids have never been, and the kids are at an age where seeing the houses of government, memorials, battlefields etc. will actually make sense to them.

The airlines know that people who aren't from Nola want to come visit for Mardi Gras. They also know that the people who live in Nola want to leave for Mardi Gras.

That's an expensive time of year to go to or from South Louisiana

Nola to Denver is about $1000 for MG. Houston and Jackson to Denver are about $700. I think it is the MG factor.

we always fly to colorado for mardi gras. not this year. shite is stupid.

this year, we are driving up to taos. i figure about 600 bucks in gas total vs 3k in airline tix then the cost of rental cars or ubers.

Southwest flights don't show up on Goggle flights. Always fly Southwest for cheap flights.

Looking around this time too. For the 17th to 24th cancun is $400 rt and Miami is $200rt.
For beaches. I found some Caribbean islands in the 4-600 range.
Vegas is $215rt but I'm actually eyeing a trip to Paris or Amsterdam at that time for $700 as the wife and kids will be in a school trip to Disney and I have a week of solo travel.
Since I'll be alone museums I can read all the plaques in without being rushed is what I really want to do. Or diving/snorkeling.

I’ve been looking at flights to Montego Bay which are usually $650-$750 direct for the one I want and lately it’s been $950 or more and isn’t really changing.

Thats why I always book my MG flights as soon as they are released. 4 round trip to DEN was $2,063. Still over $200 each higher than last year but better than the current $1,185 each.

Taos is awesome. Check into the restaurant at the St. Bernard Inn. It used to be fabulous, but the crazy little Frenchman who owned it died, so I’d look up some recent reviews.
