I have them around my eyes. They don't "hurt" yet but my doc says it's probably coming.

What am I in for?

It’s weird. They sit under the skin then explode out one day. Looks like a rash but it’s rough texture and painful when touched.

Take meds when you feel it coming on.

In all seriousness, because the Varicella zoster virus has been dormant in your dorsal root ganglia since you first got chicken pox and now they're exploding out through the spinal nerves around their respective dermatones...

You're probably in for some nerve damage.

It's bizarre. No pain but I feel like I have a 25 lb dumbbell on my face.

They can cause blindness if near/ in the eyes so I would be making sure to continue to seek care from your PCP.

I will pray for you. I will say that again. I will pray for you. I had shingles on my buttock. Dad had it on the left side of his face. Poor dad.

Ain't gonna lie bro. It's no cakewalk. Having said that, I strongly suggest you get to your doctor (or ER) now. My doctor prescribed some pills. It shortened the time in bed. Imagine laying on your stomach for a week because you couldn't stand the pressure of a sheet on your skin.

Pain.

Because of it being near the eyes, do take whatever prescription your doctor recommends. If it were me I would also take the dietary supplement L-lysine which you can get in the vitamin section and seems to pair well with turmeric. Unfortunately, nuts contain an amino acid which helps the shingles virus propagate, so I would also forsake any leftovers or snacks with nuts.

Worst pain I’ve ever had. I had them by my left eye and forehead. You should see an eye Dr as well just for good measure. I had them 5 years ago and still have no feeling in the spot where they were on my temple.

You need to see an ophthalmologist if it’s anywhere near your eyes

When I had them the only thing that helped the pain was a paste I made with table salt and lemon juice.
