It’s Iowa state. But he’s probably better suited for a developmental program.

In the last 20 or so years they have been much better. No way a good coach should have them at 4-8.
3-9
8-5
8-5
7-6
9-3, 8-1
7-6, 5-4
4-8 1-8
He was a flash in the pan his first few years and is on a big time downward trajectory. Numbers speak for themselves.

Teams are allowed to have down seasons. Especially at Iowa State.
Everyone needs to remember that Chizik went 5-19 and ISU fans were upset about him leaving

Lol. Because they’re dumb

I'm not saying he's good or bad. Just asking questions to see what others think. I do know he's went 7-6,9-3,7-6, and 4-8 the last four years. That's 27-23. That's not a great coach. That's an ok coach.
That's not a good coach at LSU, Alabama, Texas, Michigan, Ohio St., USC, etc. That is a good coach at Iowa State. You are talking about a football program that hasn't had a player drafted in the first round in about fifty years.

I had forgotten how bad Chizik was there.

Iowa St has been pretty good the last 20 years. 4-8 is a testament to how he’s not living up to the hype.
Good grief, Campbell has been so good at Iowa State that people actually believe they were "pretty good" before him.
Entering the TCU game this weekend, they had the best defense in the Big XII and hadn't lost a game by more than one score. In fact, it has been rare for Campbell's teams to be blown out during his tenure.
How Iowa State even managed to hang in most games with all they lost on offense is a testament to Campbell's coaching ability. Most programs would still be happy to have him.

Still, a great coach would do better there. He's an ok coach. That's not a dumb take. His record is mediocre.
State fans would have built Dan Mullen a statue had he stayed in Starkville and his record was worse than Campbells.

Hes averaging 8 wins a season there. What were the averaging the years before he got there?
ETA:
2003: 2-10
2004: 7-5
2005: 7-5
2006: 4-8
2007: 3-9

2018: 8-5
2019: 7-6
2020: 9-3
2021: 7-6
2022: 4-8
They have had 8 winning seasons in the last 20 years, Campbell was the coach for 5 of them.
In the last 20 years, they were 57-102 without Campbell. They are 46-42 with Campbell. The only reason they been “pretty good” for the last 20 years is because of the Campbell years.
He’s a good coach.

That dude has to be trolling. Campbell has built a decent program in a major conference on a team that has been historically bad. He’s a good coach.
Now I’m not sure how he would be at a big school with big expectations like an Oklahoma or Michigan, etc. but I think he would clean up at a place like Cincinnati or USF. Similar to a Mullen.

So, you're saying he is similar to Mullen? Then he is an ok, above average coach not great. Your post actually agrees with what I'm saying. Could coach at an Iowa St, MS State, Louisville, etc,,and win 7-8 a year but not on the level for a Michigan, Bama, USC, Ohio St, etc.

No, I’m saying that remains to be seen. Not every coach is cut out to be Nick Saban at a big name program. Campbell may or may not be that type of coach. But that doesn’t make him a bad or mediocre coach. He’s done a great, awesome, amazing job where he is at. He’s a really good coach.

Also lost by 14 to 6-6 Oklahoma

Ehhhhhhh. Let’s pump the brakes here. He’s had 3 good years, 2 mediocre ones, and 2 bad ones so far in his 7 years. What’s most alarming is the really bad trend in his last three seasons. This season will tie for their worst conference finish in the last 20 years also.
9-3, 8-1
7-6, 5-4
4-8 1-8
Hot name out the gate for sure. But that’s worrisome.

They were down 14 to 6-6 Baylor at home and scored a touchdown in the last minute to make it look closer.

He's on the level with PJ Fleck. Won in the MAC, got mid-level P5 job, talked about as the next great young coach, and current program has stagnated or taken a step back in the last few years. Good, above average coach. Major players(USC, Florida, LSU, etc.) dodged a bullet.

won't be getting any offers now. 4-8 from supposedly a good coach is pathetic.
What a disaster it’s been for LSU hiring Brian Kelly
