Grease fires happen when you never clean the cook chamber. I cooked our thanksgiving Turkey on my Traeger today and everyone loved it. It is a very versatile cooker. The only thing you won’t do is seer a steak on it. But I have a gas grill for that. I also have a pretty large reverse flow stick burner and love to cook on it as well. They all have their place.

What are you cooking at? I slow smoke burger for 30+ minutes. I could open the grate and cook at 300+ but I’ve found smoked for a while and then a reverse seat at the end is the best.
To each their own but you’re not going to get much flavor in a 10 minute cook.
Anyways, I digress. I use a pit boss and love it. Clean out your ash and off the boiler plate and you’ll be fine. People come back and ask for ribs, wings, and brisket, etc. did 4 racks of ribs and wings for 12 people today. I had a smoker but I like just turning it on and not having to babysit.
Despite what people say, the flavor is comparable and you can indeed drink beside it. I do every time.

The Weber Smokefire is notorious for grease fires.
I have three pellet smokers and if they are cleaned they will not have a grease fire. I do a burn-off every so often and raise my temperatures up slowly to the 450 degree range with NO fires.

Yes IF you want to sit right at it and constantly adjust it. I use to have a stick smoker and I did love the smoky flavor, but it was a pita to use. Don't even think about leaving it to run to the store or something.

I cook all of these on my SmokinBrothers pellet smoker. My wife refuses to go to a steak house for a steak anymore. I smoke them for about 2 hours and then reverse sear them. I love 1" thick smoked pork chops. I do use LINK / for burgers and to reverse sear my steaks.

I got a recteq (I think it was a rectec when I bought it and they changed the spelling). Excellent machine, holds temps like a champ, can control with an app. Was between this and camp chef woodwind I believe because of the sear box add on and easy access ash box but recteq is just built like a tank I didn’t read a single bad review. My cover ripped and they sent me a new one without question.
You can cook anything that you would either bake or otherwise smoke on it.
The only drawback is bark won’t be quite the same as a stick smoker. Also as mentioned, there is maintenance, mostly just shop vac the inside to remove ash and any grease buildup. It’s work to use it, there is some babysitting but overall the ease of use makes this one of the best cooking tools there is. Someone mentioned (in jest I am sure) that it’s the airfare if smoking. It’s actually a great comparison. We finally got an air fryer recently and while it is limited in space it’s the most efficient tool for many jobs.

I have been thinking about getting the basic RT-B380 bullseye. Its $300 less than the other bullseye and doesnt have the wifi and doesnt get quite as hot but I dont think I need the thing to get to 1000 degrees. 750 should be fine. Do any of yall have any experience with it?

I’ve got a pittboss. It’s great for smoking. I prefer steaks on the gas grill.
It so easy to make great ribs with a pellet grill. If you’re extra lazy like me go by Costco and get the seasoned St. Louis style ribs and you don’t even have to trim or season the ribs. It’s like a cheat code.

There is absolutely NO REASON to have a grease fire if you use it correctly and keep it maintained.
I rarely use the Egg anymore. For more smoke, I just use a smoke tube.

For me, it wasn't worth it. Got one as a gift a few years ago. I ended up giving it to my FIL. He loves it. I ended up using my Weber Kettle more. My dad taught me every technique imaginable using a Weber Kettle. I even have a rotisserie attachment and pizza stone for it.

I vacuum out my traeger after 2 long smokes and I wrap my drip pan in heavy duty foil and replace it every 4 smokes.
It doesn't take long to keep it maintained. I've had it about 8 years with no problems.

Had a Yoder for a long time and love it and you may cook anything you wish, they are a bit dear though.
Like anything in life you normally get what you pay for and a cheap pellet grill sucks just as bad as a cheap bbq grill or smoker.

I need to get one. I don’t need a ton of heat or space because most of my stuff will get cooked on my built in 36 yote. But I want one for smoking, don’t need to sear I have that on the gas grill. Been kicking around the recteq 340 or something similar.
