Did anyone else have a "Campus Job" while at LSU? Do they still have them?

I had one in the late 90's in accounting department and got paid $5.25. Part of my duties were to scan documents in Microfiche and notate breaks in the documents. The best part was when I would got to take the department car and bring boxes to storage which happened to be in the old tiger stadium dorms. I had keys to get in and once you were in there you could wander through the whole stadium. Some of the dorms looked like people moved out in a hurry...they left all kinds of personal items like pictures, text books, notebooks, clothes, test papers etc. After burning a few hours wandering in tiger stadium I'd drive around campus and find buddies that were going to or from class and pick them up and drive around campus in the campus car and harass chicks. Those were the good old days.

Worked at the front desk at The Cox Center about a decade ago. Basically just checked guys in for tutoring appts and did whatever they asked. Forget what I got paid but it wasn’t much 8-9 bucks an hour or something. Pretty easy job.

They do it as a way to give a scholarship without having to give a scholarship.

Not at LSU, but I did have a school job to se up the Lab for Physics experiments. Occasionally I stayed overnight and slept in the supply room connected to the Lab on an air mattress with a sleeping bag on it. CSB.

Misappropriation of Assets.

I supervised the loading dock and dry good/cold storage facilities for the Student Union '79 & '80 (makes me old as dirt). One of the perks was free meals from the cafeteria. When you're 21 and cooking for yourself that's gourmet food! How's the food in the cafeteria these days?

I had a job at Audio Visual Services where I delivered overhead projectors or tv's around campus. Best job in the world. Only had to deliver one or maybe two over a 3 or 4 hour period. Rest of time was my study hour. Never had to do homework otherwise. Got it all in and got paid in the process. We also set up the 19in TV's in Tiger Stadium on Friday's. That was cool because we got to steal ice-cream in the club section. That cooler was never locked.

Officiated basketball games and umpired softball games in the intramural leagues - paid $4.00 / game. Hourly rate for other campus jobs was less than a dollar.
Helped set up track meets.
One summer worked in the music listening room in the Union. Played requested music for four listening rooms.

I worked at CAMD from my sophomore year through grad school. It was an LSU job, though off campus at the synchrotron.

Had a job as basically a secretary in the Theater Dept. I was not a theater guy. I got chewed out by the head theater guy for spelling “professor” with two Fs and one S. On a typewriter. In 2003. He chewed me out like Saban does on a guy that misses a block. That was my last day there.

I worked in the office of parking traffic and transportation.
They had a couple of jeeps that I would drive around campus running errands and listening to Jim Rome. It was a sweet gig.

Yes, they still have them. I'm a student and work at the library. A friend of mine works with the football team for recruiting.

UREC turf maintenance and groundskeeping. Painted all the foul lines for the softball games, rugby, flag football etc. Spent many hours cutting grass and weed eating too.

I worked a semester of my freshman year in the Hatcher Cafeteria. I basically did busy work. Lived in Hatcher, also.

I had two different on campus jobs in 2014/2015, both provided through my scholarship. The first was in a computer lab in Patrick F. Taylor. My official duties were "sit in this lab for a few hours and make sure nobody walks out with the computers / pick up any trash on the floors before you leave" Pretty cushy. Easiest money I've ever made. I ended up losing this job because I dropped my 5 hour calculus 1 course, which meant I was no longer enrolled in enough credits to be classified as a full time student.
My second on campus job was as a research assistant for a grad student pursuing his PHD in environmental engineering. We were working on finding a material that could be used to build a barrier to save the Louisiana coastline without harming the ocean. My job mostly included performing chemical tests on the composition of samples that came back from the field. Occasionally I was tasked to building various contraptions to aid in the experiment.
Both jobs were very easygoing and flexible in terms of scheduling, with a cap at 20 hours per week. Both jobs paid 7.25/hr - minimum wage at the time.

I worked at Pleasant Hall in the continuing education department from 1994-99. Best campus job ever! Set up computers. Drove the cars to various locations off campus to set up workshops. Got minimum wage, but it was a great job. Helped with any extras I needed.
