Chris Henry (WR, Bengals) would have had a decent NFL career if he didn’t pass away falling out of the back of a moving truck
Ohio State is recruiting his son. Get ready to cry. This is a touching story. The Story of Chris Henry's organ donatiions

Charles Rogers. Injuries and drugs.

Sergio Garcia
Eh, I think Sergio got out about what he had with his talent in his career. Even taking out his sometimes mental flakiness, he just was never that great with the flat stick, especially under pressure. Obviously a supreme ball-striker, maybe one of the best to ever do it, but his game was not as complete as it should have been to say he didn't get the most out of his talent.
I think Dustin Johnson, who has had an excellent, Hall of Fame level career as it is, probably has a better case. That guy could have been one of the best ever had he been able to really get it together before he turned 30.

Marcus Lattimore.
Without injuries, he has a Heisman and an NFL rushing title.
Came here to post this. He was drafted in the 4th round by SF and I remember keeping up with his practices. He was ready to go and then told the staff his knee was "too tight" and he never played a down in a real game. Had big hopes he could recover. Amazing player.

Ark QB/NFL WR Matt Jones.
6’6”, 4.38 forty at the combine, athleticism coded in his DNA (played basketball at Arkansas too). Just didn’t have it between the ears to make the most of his potential in the pros.
His biggest problem is he came along 10 years too early. Had he been in college in 2013 instead of 2003, his skills would have been used a lot more efficiently and he may have had a chance to play QB in the NFL.
And the easiest answer to this is Michael Vick. If he had put half the time into dedicating himself to football as someone like Matt Ryan did, he'd have been a HOFer. Vick himself has admitted this on several occasions. He's also another one who came along 10 years before the league fully bought into using guys with his skillset.

Vick in modern RPO offense would be a nightmare.

No idea how he would have turned out but Anthony Kim had 11 birdies in 1 round at The Masters. If that isn't a flash of brilliance, I don't know what is.

Greg Oden maybe. If he didn’t have the bones and joints of a 70 year old, he may have been a beast.

Marcus Dupree. But that name probably wouldn’t come up as much without the 30 for 30. I saw him first hand and he was like a pro back playing a JC team.
As far as Golf, it’s littered with coulda beens. Sergio is one of too many to count.

I put Len Bias at the top because I think he could've changed the course of NBA history. If he goes on to have a full career how far does he extend the Celtics window? Obviously that would've affected MJ's legacy because the Celtics gave him fits.
More recently, Josh Gordon who looked like he was the next superstar WR, but couldn't stay off the weee-duh.
