I Flew in and stayed at a hotel at the airport for the 2019 cfp. It was great. Marta in and out. No traffic.

Only time I used the MARTA was for the 2001 SEC championship game. Was packed like sardines after the game with LSU fans and some miserable Vol fans.it was ugly. Wouldn’t want to hang out with the opposing team’s fans like that after a tough loss.

MARTA is for poors and locals.
This is a vacation for me- I’m paying a little extra scratch to park close.

Sure, do what you want. I'm just putting it out there as an option for people who haven't made the trip before.

You better not be alone after the crowds subside....

It is not a safe train late at night!

sorry to bump this older thread, but I'm a major advocate for MARTA for out of towners. I know most folks will probably be staying in town and may not find this relevant but for anyone staying OTP, or hell even if you are staying close to downtown, it's still a great resource.

OP did a good job.

as someone else mentioned eralier in the thread, Vine City is a bit of a "secret" if you want to call it that as far as getting on/off. There's a station at State Farm/Mercedes that's titled as such so naturally the overwhelming majority of people will use this stop. If you just go one stop over to Vine city it's MUCH less crowded, and when you exit the station there is a nice pedestrian bridge that spits you out litereally at the entrance gates to the stadium.

lol

you do whatever you feel like but MARTA riders are probably going to already be at the bar or at their hotel while you're still sitting in an hour of traffic with 50K other big ballers

I'm honestly not familiar with the line east of 5 points as I've never had to be that way. Making an educated guess, I would say the area outside of hte station is not very good and I would not want to be there any longer than needed. But anywhere inside the station, and on the actual train, you're going to be fine. There will be a LOT of uga people from gwinnett and other eastern parts that are coming in indian creek so safety definitely won't be a concern while on the train.

Thanks. Was just curious about the MARTA station. Looks to be the closest one to where I'm staying.

I gotcha, you'll be fine. I didn't mean to make it seem like your walk from hotel to station was going to resemble southside chicago or antyhing. And the city of atlanta isn't dumb, they know there's going to be a ton of people in town for the event and riding marta so I've often seen a bit of an uptick in security for big events.
