Any of yall have a good recipe for making and freezing deer burritos? I know some processors out there offer it, but seems easy enough to make on your own with. Would love to be able to take em from the freezer and pop in the air fryer.

I've had some good deer tamales, never heard of freezing a deer burrito though.

Did these earlier this year. Sorry for the chicken scratch. They came out pretty damn good.

I have had the ones from Mickey Brown's in Houma and they are Bomb. But they are stupid expensive. I think I may make some myself this year. The key is to have the deer ground very fine.

Do you brown or cook the tortillas or just wrap right out of package?

Wrap out the package and froze them. It made like 60-70 burritos. When we pull them from the freezer we brown them or air fry them. Or sometimes fry them and make chimichangas.

Looks good, I assume cook the stock down so it’s not so wet?

Deer burritos
- 10 lbs ground deer meat
- 50 mid size tortillas
- 1/2 large can nacho cheese
- Mexican seasoning
1) heat 1/2 can cheese and 1 cup of water in crock pot.
2) Brown and drain 10 lbs ground meat. 3) Mix in Mexican seasoning to preferred taste.
4) Warm flat pan to medium on burner.
5) Add one large spoon full of meat and one spoon full of cheese to tortilla.
6) Fold each tortilla on all 4 sides, then heat both sides on flat pan to seal tortilla completely.
7) Freeze 2 per bag.

Sorry for necro-posting but I made a batch of burritos using the recipe, vacuum sealed (3 to a pack) and froze them. I opened a pack today and heated them in the microwave - taste was outstanding but the tortilla was sort of soggy. I don’t have an air fryer and was wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to heat from frozen without the sogginess.

Nuke to reheat. Then pop on a hot skillet to take the moisture from the tortilla.
Or just bake them at 350 for 20-35 minutes. Maybe longer depending on burrito size. I’d flip it every 10 minutes until it was done.

Wrap in foil and heat on buddy heater in the deer stand.

I freeze them on a cookie sheet prior to vacuum sealing, allows them to hold shape and they don’t get as soggy.
Air fry or brown in skillet as others said to crisp.

Damn, that is an outstanding suggestion! I may have to take my Buddy Heater out next hunt (even if it's not cold).

I bake them on 375 for 10 minutes then flip them for another 10 minutes. About 1/2 way through the second 10, I pour a can of enchilada sauce over them and cover with grated cheese. Damn fine meal.

Deer burritos make excellent enchiladas also. Thaw them, coat in enchilada sauce, put in a pan, top with cheese and more enchilada sauce.
