There are a lot of teams that are undefeated or with one loss. Tenn and UGA have to play, OSU and Mich have to play, TCU probably has to lose, Oregon and USC each have one loss and have to play. I just don’t see a scenario in which a 2 loss LSU gets in, even if they win out and beat an undefeated UGA or Tenn.

So let's play this out. Let's say LSU wins the SEC by beating an undefeated TENN in a rematch. This is what we have:

12-1 Tenn
11-2 LSU
11-1 UGA
13-0 tOSU
11-1 UM
13-0 Clem
12-1 TCU
12-1 Oregon

UGA and Michigan are out for sure. So you have Tenn, Ohio St, LSU, Clemson, TCU, and Oregon left. LSU is probably in the Top 6 going into the SEC Championship, so I don't see how they get left out if Tennessee runs the table and goes into that game #1. So the question becomes whether or not Tennessee gets left out of the playoff, or whether you have a 2-loss Champion and a 1-loss non-champion in with Ohio State and Clemson.

That would be a shitty playoff, because we probably end up with the rubber match between LSU/UT unless they leave UT out entirely.

I just don't see a 2-loss LSU getting left out unless both Tenn and UGA lose before the SEC Title game, or you have 3 undefeated conference champions and a 1-loss champ sitting there. And I don't believe that has happened yet, either.

Question? is the winner of the SEC championship game automatically in the playoff, regardless of w/l record?

I don't think so. I believe it's going to depend largely on what that conference championship game looks like.

Like I said in my previous post, I think LSU needs an undefeated UGA or Tenn in Atlanta, especially if you have multiple unbeaten teams as conference champions. The best chance a 2-loss LSU has is with a win over an undefeated and #1 East Champ. If that happens, I don't see them leaving LSU out. The question then becomes "does the East Champ get left out after the SEC Championship game loss"? Because LSU isn't jumping to #1 in that scenario. They are likely 3 or 4 at best.

The #10 ranking to me signals that the committee puts LSU in if we win out. Monumental task but it's awesome to even be in the position. Win this week and we move to 6 or 7 and would likely go into the SECCG at 5 just needing to win to leapfrog the SEC east team whether it be Tenn or Georgia.

Of course there has - LSU in 2007. And the playoffs were half the size that they are now. We didn't call them playoffs because only two teams made it, and there was only one game.

I'm not convinced we would get in. Really depends on how many spots the SEC will be given and how the games play out. The Big Ten and the SEC have at least one spot each. Who in the SEC will get that spot first, and will the SEC get a second spot is the question.

First, I'm not a fan of the selection committee for such a small number of spots (playoff expansion will alleviate this). These people are massively conflicted and at their core they are political animals who are very good at delivering what their bosses want.

They've got a lot of the press fooled that they are just paragons of truth and justice by bringing in these mostly innumerates to impress them in mock ranking sessions with reams of data. But most of that is just smoke and mirrors to justify anything they want.

Don't know what their bosses want, other than money, but would they exclude both undefeated Clemson or TCU? If so, would they also exclude USC who only has a 1 point loss away? Or the loser of the B10 in a close game?

If there is only one spot for the SEC, who gets it? Even in the BCS era, they didn't respect the conference championship (2003 OK lost BAD to KSU). Let's say TN loses a close game to GA this weekend. Do they take us or TN. Worse still, say Hooker gets knocked out of the game, but not the season. The committee really likes to project things when it fits their narrative.

The point of all this (if you got this far) is that I don't think it's guaranteed we make it if we win out, unless it's 2019 style, and that ain't gonna happen.

13-0 TCU Big 12 champ
12-1 Oregon PAC 12 champ

Not sure what 4 you take in this scenario. I know that whatever teams didn’t make it would be extremely pissed though.

No, but I can think of a 2 loss team that handily won the championship game.

If Oregon Wins out, they are in... the committee will love the fact that Pac-12 has 2 potential targets this year. The question is on Clem & TCU, but it looks like they value Clem over TCU despite TCU having the most wins against ranked opponents this year.

So clearly you can't read, because I pointed out the fact that LSU was the first 2-loss BCS Champion. That was not the College Football Playoff.

Calling anything from the Bowl Coalition or BCS Eras a "playoff" is a joke.
