Big difference between a shortage and a 'we ran out'. The key to the grocery store is to watch produce. It's perishable stuff so you have to rely on regular shipments not being delayed.

Seems like some right-side fear-mongering again. Like much of the BS the Dems throw out there about fear of lack of abortion options, racism, etc. The Right likes to scare people with commodities, household items, etc. If you visit a place like The Donald, I do, they fear monger all kinds of random stuff on there. Did yall know that orange juice is going through the roof? I still haven't seen a price increase at the store and that's a perishable item, it doesn't take long to see those prices reflected at the store.

Is it in a downward trend...Yes.
Is the EIA suspect in a lot of their reporting...Sometimes.

But they can't bullshite over 50 million barrels even if the actual stock is half of the reported amount.

We are trending lower, but refineries are also fixing to switch to winter blends and this will ultimately cause a rise in diesel stocks.

Ya boi, Tucker...

But I do see that you're correct in that left is also postin a shite-ton about it as well. The first time I read about it was on zero-hedge, so I assumed the right started it.

Folks, what we got here is a gin-uine goddamned D-Hadist.

His people have wrecked the Economy, brought food and fuel shortages, are actively grooming and abusing children, sending billions to a meaningless war, convincing minors to chop themselves up, not to mention bringing us to the precipice of World War 3 and YET he still blames the Right-Wing boogeyman.

This sort of Leftist should be locked up.

He would not hesitate to strap a bomb to himself for "the cause".

You care more about what Carlson has to say than I do. Read the link I posted.

Anyone who thinks the diesel market is doing just fine should talk less and listen more.

Edit:

Saw your edit.

Is this a lie from Forbes?

Why The U.S. Has A Diesel Shortage

quote:

Last week, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that distillate inventories were at their lowest levels since 2008. (The primary distillates are diesel, jet fuel ,and heating oil).

However, in 2008 distillate levels were low coming out of spring. Currently, they are low going into fall. That’s far worse than the situation in 2008.

Distillate demand generally spikes in spring — when farmers are planting crops — and in fall, when they are harvesting those crops and people start buying fuel oil for winter. Thus, a low distillate inventory in late April 2008 isn’t quite as serious as a low inventory in October 2022. In fact, distillate inventories haven’t been this low in October since the EIA began reporting this data in 1982.

These low distillate inventories are why diesel prices are above $5.00 a gallon nationwide, even though the nationwide average price for gasoline has dropped below $4.00 a gallon.

I'd wait until everyone is good and freaked out about costs and shortages and starts dumping theirs for gassers.

I mean, in a sense there already is a shortage. The price has gone sky high to recognize such. Just because there is some left doesn't mean there isn't a shortage. If your pantry had one box of oatmeal and nothing else, you wouldn't say "we have enough oatmeal for 3 days". You'd say - "holy shite, we're almost out of food!"

While this is correct in assumption it’s not totally right. Diesel is being sent overseas in larger quantities than prior and cutting into supply each day even if production stays at current levels. If we continue doing this the supply above daily production levels will be 0 inside 3 months. This is very dangerous going into wintertime

EIA is reporting the lowest levels in October, since they began keeping track in 82.

Supply has fallen dramatically, DESPITE far lower October demand.

May not be time to panic, but it is definitely a cause for concern as this will continue to raise the already absurd diesel prices.

I noted that the amount of inventory should be concerning.

If it is real then it means the economy is booming and 18 wheelers are busier than normal.

Diesel production remains the same in spite of the former BP refinery in Toledo, OH having a fire in August putting 160,000 BPD if Canadian heavy crude refining offline.

Stocks remain pretty much the same the end of September as is normal.

Exports (a number of Central American and Caribbean nations rely of US refined products) remains the same.

Hitting the NE the hardest for a number of reasons, but high prices up there will pull stocks up there and put pressure on prices nationwide...even down here next to the refineries.
