Pathetic post. The service is the one place where you are guilty until proven innocent. It’s completely backwards if you believe in our judicial system. There is a reason the service loses so often.

You were targeted. I worked for a bank and processed 50 IRS summons from the same agent. It profiled the same ethnicity each time. The individuals were all small business owners.

I don't recall seeing anything on any tax form ever asking me to identify my ethnicity so how does the IRS know who and how to target "by ethnicity".

Around where I live, while there are numerous ethnicities living there, however - the vast majority of the business owners are one ethnicity and they are the one's that get the letters.

The IRS does not even hide the fact that they careful attention to business owners. I think that is why anyone was ever "targeted" - because they owned a business, not because they are "x" ethnicity or religion.

As others have said, sounds like it may be the system generated bs letter. I got one years ago and it was full of errors. The irs claimed I owed thousands of dollars. A phone call to the irs took care of most of it and a letter took care of the rest. I didn’t owe them anything.

I wish our government would audit themselves with the same zeal they go after taxpayers.

Government after sending hundreds of millions of dollars of stimulus money and the like to foreigners, dead people, nigerian princes, etc.:

Without going into detail, this one is going to suck. The amount they want is going to be pretty painful. Wife (no pics), 3 young kids and another one on the way, and we are very much the definition of a typical middle class family, struggling with inflation and cost of living.

Our taxes aren't even complicated and we have a CPA file them for us every year and the amount they are asking doesn't even make sense. FJB

I have been 1099 for the last 7 years or so and one year one of my big clients submitted a 1099 twice, so i got a letter from the IRS saying I owed an absurd amount of money relative to what I usually pay. It was straightened out relatively quickly but I was pretty fricking nervous until it got settled.

This is why I use TurboTax. They have an amazing DC lobby that prevents them from auditing people that file with them. It would be a bad look if people were audited using them.

I don't know who told you this, but you should stop listening to them immediately.

You need to immediately contact your R DC rep that has the highest rank in DC.

What city/town do you live in? I will help a bit.

If it is harassment and not anything substantial that makes no sense. Your rep can intervene if you sign a paper for them to.

AGAIN for the mentally insane prog filth if it is a legit issue/math error he still needs intervening, this is how bad the SEIU IRS target non democrats.

Eric Holder had the entire disk from the IRS to target back when True The Vote was months old.

Got my letter a few weeks ago. Mine is complicated somewhat but what they went after was 4 different 1099’s they say were not reported. However they were if they had looked more into detail. When you add 4 together you get a total which was the revenue generated. They couldn’t figure that out. My cpa issued a response and I just got the letter back they received it and will respond within months

Wait, you have a CPA that decided to just lump four 1099s together?

You need to talk to your CPA because the IRS doesn’t complete an audit and notify you after the fact. Hell make sure the notice is even real. With a tax situation like you’re describing you 1) aren’t reporting enough income 2) someone fricked up a 1099, or 3) your CPA is a dumbass.

I suspect you may have someone else using your social security number. An illegal made up a number to get a job which just happened to be the same as my mother's number. The IRS considered his income to be unreported income for her.

My CPA sone years ago messed up on a SS# and it caused me a lot of problems. It was actually an IRS rep that found it when I was talking to them. Filed an amended return with the right info. All the numbers then matched up and was in the clear.

SS# is one of the biggest triggers. Usually because of transposing one number

Don’t pay. It’s cheaper to hire a good tax lawyer and waste the government’s time indefinitely.

Of course, because if there’s one thing good tax lawyers do, it’s work for cheap.

You either owe or you don't.

What is the letter type? Top right hand corner should say.

Thanks sucks! Sorry for you. We get audited about every other year and they always find a 1000 or 2000 more dollars for us to pay!
Once we reached a certain level of income we became targets and it hasn’t stopped. I anticipate it will be every year now!
