Does Tulane have a prayer at the NY6?

If they can go 11-1 in the regular season with Cincinnati and UCF left on the schedule, they could be in the top 15 at least.

Is at least one G5 always guaranteed a NY6 Bowl? Highest ranking?
If so, they might.

Will you melt when their game isn’t in the espn prime time slot

Longshot
Its a damn shame they lost (at home) to Southern Miss.
Thats really gonna hurt any chances.

I can already see you making a melt thread about how it’s being broadcasted

If they were 12-0 instead of 11-1, it'd be a near guarantee.
11-1 brings a lot of if's.

The highest-ranked "Group of 5" conference champ gets an auto-bid to the NY6.
It will for sure be Tulane if they win out. That would mean beating UCF, SMU, Cincinnati and then probably Cincinnati again. Tulane would damn near be top 10 if they did that.
Won't happen, though.
ETA: The only two G5 teams ranked right now are Cincinnati and Tulane. Hell, Tulane could LOSE to Cincy the last game of the season, beat them in a re-match the next week in the AAC Championship Game, and still probably make a NY6 Bowl at 11-2.

Saving that for when ABC picks Michigan/Rutgers for primetime.

Yes, if they win the AAC

If Tulane wins out and wins the AAC I think they make it. Don’t think any G5’s are still undefeated at this point

There are no undefeated G5’s
The only one-loss teams are Cincinnati, Tulane, Coastal Carolina, and Liberty.

Let me preface by saying that I know how ridiculous this sounds, but Tulane is going to the Cotton Bowl if they win out.

UCF and Cincinnati are not as scary as earlier in the season.
UCF got crushed by ECU last night. Cincinnati (who had 9 players drafted) has had some close games. Houston has a very easy road to the AAC championship game.
Southern Miss also did their part the past two weeks in starting to make that one loss not look as horrible. The Golden Eagles will most likely end up Bowl eligible.

Not trying to sugarcoat the USM loss because Tulane was bad that game, but like you said USM has actually been improving. They aren’t a terrible team

Yes if they are the highest ranked G5 then they will be in the Cotton Bowl (which is the bowl that has to take the G5 team this year).

They had a bowl on a Saturday night in the Superdome a few years ago, and barely filled the bottom of one side of the stadium. The rest of the Dome was Vermilion and Cream…

quote:That's true if you only check out the final scores. The offense has been downright ghastly the past two weeks. It's like Halloween come early.

The defense is still playing well and keeping them in the game, though. It has allowed for two-straight near-miracle comeback wins.

That game still holds the New Orleans bowl record for attendance at about 55,000 and it was 50/50 Tulane and USL. Not bad for a minor bowl

I was there, Tulane brought a good crowd.
