Is there any way to look up new car prices as they were in the year before the Covid pandemic began (so that a person could compare current prices to those)? TIA

Really hate when people say stuff like this. This tells us almost nothing. A new Silverado can be anywhere from $35k to $95k depending on model/trim/options.
Yes—I’m triggered.

I purchased a 2018 Honda Accord Touring with 42,000 miles on it in 2020 for 21,500 and I can sell that same car now with 55k miles on it for 28,000-30,000.

Purchased a 2020 GMC Sierra Texas edition SLT in March 2020 soon as covid started. $41,650.
Would be a steal nowadays. I'll drive it til the wheels fall off.

I have been a GM buyer all my life and have been vey satisfied until the last decade or so. Quality/reliability has went down the drain. They still cannot build a transmission(other than the TH400/4L80E) that will last and lifter failures have been a problem since they introduced cylinder deactivation.

I bought my 2020 Tacoma Limited 4x4 in May 2020 for $45k out the door. Not sure what a similar purchase would cost now.

Bought my new truck for 63k right before Covid. It would be pushing 80k today. Similar with wife’s SUV (paid 65k), but hers is pushing mid 80’s now if purchased new today.

2007 Tahoe with 283,000 miles still going strong.
Dashboard top fell apart but there is a whole industry making a replacement that looks exactly like the original. Put one on there and you can’t tell it’s not stock unless your looking for it.
