Can’t change a tire? Or just don’t want to?

You can literally YouTube anything now.

I now will check for dirt and grease on a person's hands before I question their handyman skills

Tools look unused. Likely an armchair boomer that is posing as useful and wise.

True. In BR, 3 things really help when changing a flat:

1. Light floor jack

2. Cordless impact

3. Pistol of your choice

If you meet a man who carries tools in his pocket daily. Chances are….that man was raised to do things…To fix things..to do what’s necessary. These men are of a different caliber and will most often times be someone you can trust to do things.

So when meeting this man..if you are young? Learn from him…listen to what he has to say. Because most times it’s lessons from life experiences and mistakes that will help you through life.

But also know that you are in the presence of a…..dying breed.

I don't subscribe to this dying breed. I think we can learn things from a lot of people, not just from those that carry pliers and wrenches in their pockets. Maybe you look up to them, but they're people too with their own faults and shortcomings.

We should all talk to people daily, take what we find useful, and discard what doesn't apply to our lives. You can acquire wisdom from a wide range of people with different backgrounds, whether they tote around toolboxes or sit in a gamer chair in their spare time playing Fortnite. It's up to you to take the knowledge for what it is rather than where you think the wisdom should come from.

My sons girlfriend had a flat a while back. So my son goes to change it for her. He couldnt get the lug nut to come off so he asked me to bring him a cheater pipe.

Used a 3' pipe on it and it wouldnt come off. Got a longer one and got it to break free... by the stud snapping off.

Some a-hole at the place who rotates her tires got the air hammer on it and got it tighter than a bush hog nut.

He got tire changed and brought it to my house and checked all the other tires and they were just as tight. Ended up having to replace 6 studs.

Did you just wax poetic....about yourself?

Sad. And most of the guys that get stuff done pull tool trailers instead of keeping mini wrenches in their pockets.

shite, there's a lot of middle aged bucks that can't change a tire.

I had the wife and kid out to lunch in my '86 CJ yesterday. Beautiful day for a cruise. On the way home, heard a clunk and felt a little vibration. Whipped into a cardiologist's parking lot, and crawled under. U joint on the rear driveshaft is bad. Luckily, I have a small tool kit in the center console and it had the 5/16th" socket I needed to drop the rear shaft. Locked in the front hubs and drove home.

Good lesson for the wife and the kid. That I am a freaking man and not some dickhead that sits in the Starbucks drive thru with a man bun.

Side note- My transmission was sitting on the floor garage floor just a week ago. And chances are the u joint was bad when I reinstalled the trans.

Well, started home after

Knipex Plier Wrenches are awesome and you'll grab it over an adjustable wrench in short order.

It's probably because learning to change a tire or work with tools was the only time their dad's ever gave a shite about them
