I did not go to the game yesterday but a couple of friends that did go to the game said there were many times that Bouttee, Nabers and Thomas were running wide open and JD either did not see them, saw them too late or saw them and did not pull the trigger.

Daniels is what he is. Do not expect things to change. There will be flashes of positive plays with his feet but those yards will go down. Auburn and Tennessee have the formula for keeping Daniels in the pocket and forcing him to throw.

Daniels is simply a terrible thrower of the ball.

This is not a Denbrock scheme problem. This is talent evaluation from the coaches problem.

I completely disagree with you. We just finished week 6, we know what we have at the QB position. Scheme your offense around the positives that you have. Stop calling long elaborate passing plays, we do not have the personnel to do so.

Every week I have faith the light will come on.

Then at some point during the game it fades away.

Yesterday that was during the second quarter when Brian Thomas stacked the CB on a go route for an easy TD and JD never saw him.

I agree with this if that's what they're doing. But I think it's more Daniels refusing to throw the ball than the play calling asking him to sit in the pocket for 5 secs.

Same here. I always set myself up for disappointment.

I'm willing to go with Nuss now despite the propensity to make a few more mistakes. At least Nuss has the potential to go on a run (passing streak).

But but but, Nuss is awful too, so awful, we don’t dare give him prime time snaps

That is the key. Success in football starts with the QB as he touches the ball every play!

It is obvious that no other QBs will not get a chance until injury occurs. Football success happens when you have a QB that can manage the game, period. Managing the game requires making good decisions 80% of the time.

Two weeks ago, BK said "we aren't going to win many more games passing for 78 yards..."

I think what he really meant to say (but couldn't for obvious reasons) is "we aren't going to win many more games with #5 starting for us".

It's that plain and simple folks. It's not Denbrock. It's not Brian Kelly. Daniels was not, is not, and will never be the answer as starting qb running this offense.

OP your buddies were right. There were open receivers just about every snap. Daniels just isn't quick enough to spot them. And they're not "long elaborate routes" either. A lot of times it's an open slot, or an open flat route which will give us the first down. But he's sitting back in the pocket looking for the long elaborate route to get open.

yup. you cannot scheme around his issues when he cannot read a d, has zero anticipation and defenses will squat on the short routes and roll everybody up hurting the run game also and force his arse to throw intermediate to deep which he cannot do. he had all day at times yesterday. teams will go cover 0 because they do not respect his throwing game.

but MUH ROUTE TREE! MUH O LINE MUH DENBROCK!

cnanot always blame o line on blitzes when the QB cannot audible to a hot read. i'd blitz daniels non stop until he burned me with a screen or forced him to hit a hot route.

But I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Another plant worker, insurance guy, lawyer etc watches the game on tv and thinks he knows anything about anything. Give the coaches and team the opportunity to produce results. It won’t happen in a few games of even a season or two. Then judge them on the results. In the meantime, get a hobby

What could BK have seen in this failed now four-year starter? I cannot imagine, but Kelly needs to ask himself what the heck was he thinking. I think he lied about the QB competition.

Daniels can’t check down on other receivers he has 1 and if he is covered it’s run or sack. That’s not changing any time soon.

we called a ton of short stuff because that is what he can do at times

did you not watch the game?

holy fack man. did you not see UT roll guys up even in cover 0 and dare him to throw intermediate to deep?

he is trying to counter them squatting on short routes

JD holds ball waaaaaaaay too long

stop regurgitating buzzwords you know nothing about.

Might as well try Nuss . His fast set up can beat the rush . You could probably open up the playbook . What do you have to lose ?
Great coaches are willing to try something new . JD has definite limitations well described on this forum and by dandy don .
