I think if Trout can have a few more injury free seasons, he can work his way up there too. His numbers really are remarkable.
Trout doesn't enter the conversation without The Big Hurt.

The disrespect to Pujols in this thread is pretty incredible. His first 10 seasons in the league are unmatched.
If Aaron gets a mention, you have to mention Pujols. The guy was well over .300 for 10 straight years, usually around .330, and hit nearly .360 twice. Being called Tony Gwynn with power is no joke.

First batting title at age 22
.388 at age 38
18 of 19 seasons he hit .316 or better
His stats are covered in bold pretty much his entire career and the few “down” years were mostly due to injury. Hit for power, hit for average, never struck out. Strong GOAT claim

Rod Carew won 7 batting titles. Not the greatest player of all time but he was good . 18 straight all-star games.

You can’t deny guys like Bonds, who you hate
I’ve never said I hated Bonds, I’m one of his greatest roid defenders on here
I’m just being objective when I say if Ted Williams didn’t fight in the war and miss another year, it would be clearer where he stood all time

Hornsby is the only guy to hit .400 and have 40 homers in the same season

It's hard to call a guy like Hornsby underrated... but yeah he's probably underrated.
He led the NL in OPS+ 12 times. His counting stats suffered from injuries late in his career, but he was dominant for a 15 year run.

Hornsby is WAY up there all time IMO

What would his lifetime stats be if he didn't serve in the military?

And he gave up 5 years in military service (WWII and Korea).

Give him 30 HR per season for five seasons, and Ted sits at 671ish

35 x 5 = 205 HRs (probably more due to prime years, but being conservative)
137 * 5 = 835 RBIs
.355 BA
137 * 5 = 835 RBIs
.355 BA

Hornsby had a great eye and had some sick OBP numbers.
Supposedly, some young pitcher bitched about not getting the call on a close pitch against Rogers, and the ump shut him up by saying,"Son, Mr. Hornsby will let you know when it's a strike".
