The Soviet Union's Venera-14 space probe took this photograph during its 52-minute lifespan on the surface of Venus. The probe eventually succumbed to temperatures of up to 847-degrees Fahrenheit.

52 minutes in 847 degrees is pretty good.

Bet you could make some good pizza on those rocks.

That photo is actually an artificial picture of the surface

The originals were black and white and not full panorama and broken

We can only assume thats what it looks like

Soviets are Celsius

quote:

Venera-7 indicated that the temperature in the landing area exceeded 450 °C, and the atmospheric pressure was 90 atmospheres — that is, as at a depth of 900 meters. These data finally buried all hopes of finding life on Venus.

quote:

But how exactly to take photos in such extreme conditions? It was clear that if the camera was placed outside the protective shell, then the enormous pressure and temperature would destroy it. Therefore, engineers placed a telephotometer inside the lander. Through a special porthole, light from the surface got to the periscope device, which then sent it to the camera.

Good thing they don’t have the technology for us to go to the moon anymore.

We can get all sorts of pictures and sounds but magically can’t go to the moon anymore.

I wonder why?
